Did they just say 4 a side when the 2nd period begins?
-
As far as I'm concerned, this is the official site.

out of gas at the end of a shift, I think.

I chose eliminate the instigator, with smaller goalie equipment an extremely close second. Getting rid of the instigator is pretty self explanatory and well covered in this forum. As for goalie pads, much like with the clutching and grabbing over the years, it's been a slow creep in the size of equipment. It needs to be notched back to something reasonable. As others have mentioned, Manny Legace shouldn't be able to use the largest leg pads available. And they can easily shave some off the catching glove and blocker. Plus goaltenders like Luongo and Giguere are constantly trying to push the limits as it is. Reduce the size of the equipment and you'll hopefully see more skill goals. Not just ones that are a result of a screen and guys hacking away at the puck in the crease. I was hoping getting rid of the shootout would be on the list. Smaller goaltender equipment, less clutching and grabbing, and 10 minutes of 4-on-4 would likely do away with enough ties to return to the old system. That would mean getting rid of the ridiculous point awarded for losing, which is a big one for me. EDIT: and reviewable goals may seem like a good idea now, but would slow the game down a lot. And it more than likely would've eliminated Homer's goal early in the series, but allowed this latest one, so it's a wash.

The only problem I have with that quote is Homer wasn't barely in the crease. He wasn't in the crease at all. EDIT: actually two problems, the Dallas guy in the crease was a legal play. He wasn't interfering with Ozzy and the puck was there. Still a terrible call against Homer though.
-
It was a weak call on Homers goal, but he got away with one earlier in the series when it deflected off his knee and past Turco. That same game the Wings benefitted from a 5-on-3 on an incredibly soft call against the Stars. The bad officiating goes both ways. The good teams seize opportunities and overcome bad calls. The Wings have done that most of this playoffs, and will again. What irritates me is just the total inconsistency within a series (and within a season) on how they're calling Homer's interference. He plays right on the edge, but that edge seems to keep moving.
-
Agreed. All the positive things they say about the Wings seem to fall on deaf ears, but when they praise Dallas it gets quoted.
-
Definitely too late. He's been San Jose's Bryan Murray.
-
I love the highlight reel of Z from the game. Getting beat on and hacking and whacking right back. a little slash, a little butt end. Reminds me of Stevie Y.
-
This has to be an incredibly demoralizing loss for Dallas tonight, and not just because of the 3 game hole they're in. They outplayed Detroit for at least the first half of this game, and still came away with a 5-2 loss.
-
They just haven't capitalized on their chances. Missing a wide open net. Missing the net waaay too much. not capitalizing on the power plays.
-
Nice standup hit by Robidas.
-
look for Ott to start gooning it up.
-
Crazy stickwork and pass by Z, great finish by Dats.
-
Wow. Z and Dats are on fire tonight. Holy crap.
-
Agreed.
-
So far tonight Morrow has missed a wide open 6x4 net, and a 6'2" 215 lbs defenseman. Perhaps he needs his eyes checked?
-
All this tells me is that Turco is a frustrated goaltender. As are the Stars in general. All the whining about Holmstrom, Osgood, the faceoffs... it's all signs of a frustrated team.
-
He tried to throw a check behind the net and missed, went hard into the boards. *trying to shed a tear*
-
Morrow just hurt himself on a missed check. hee hee.
-
Dallas is getting the next penalty for when they just swallowed their whistles on Ott.
-
Wings look like they're collapsing already. Sitting back with this much time on the clock makes me nervous, no matter how good our conterattack is.
-
He's played all right, but he also took a bad penalty. As usual with Sammy, it's a wash.
-
No kidding. I'm a big Mac fan, but he's been brutal tonight. On a sidenote. mmm, big mac... *drool*
-
crap. the lebda chelios pairing out against modano's line again. And Mac's line out there too. double crap.
