He's so frustrating. He's got good size, is a good shot blocker and could be a solid stay at home defenseman. What keeps at the bottom end of the defensive corps is his fairly consistent terrible decision-making, not lack of abilit

No kidding. I mean, every defenseman is gonna end up putting one in his own net eventually. Spend that much time in front of your own goalie, it's bound to happen. But he was angled towards his own net, then swats at the puck! The only way that would've worked is if he somehow managed to smack it directly down and trap it under his stick, stopping it's momentum. Which is pretty much never gonna happen. He could try that play 100 times and I bet 99 of them deflect on net.

I don't see how that was a soft goal. It was redirected right in front of Dom. Lilja should've been busy playing the body and clearing the crease instead of trying to swat the puck out of the air. but yes, the penalty was garbage.

I think you can get an unsportsmanlike or something like that. But the puck did hit the stick so he flung it out of the way. It'd be different if the play was nowhere near there and he pushed it away from Dom.

I don't know what the deal is, but I hate the way they have the sound for games at the Joe. It sounds like a library in there, and it's not that quiet. Even when fans do cheer, it sounds like they're a mile away. Games in other arenas on FSN and the NHL Network typically sound better. They need to take a lesson from HNIC on how to mic the rink.

I just realized something. Say Manny Legace is roughly 5'8". That makes him 68 inches tall, right? Yet he wears a 38" leg pad. In other words, his leg pads come up to well over half his body. On a side note, how the f*ck did Sammy miss that?!?!?!?

He also had a separated shoulder that caused him to miss some games before the wrist. Avery has 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points in 42 games. (.59 PPG) Hudler has 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points in 66 games. (.54 PPG) Don't get me wrong though, I still don't want the guy here. -
why doesn't the NHL need more scoring? I'm pretty sure scoring has been declining each season since the lockout. And it's not like they're just singling out goalies because they're mean. The new rules greatly affected how everyone on the ice except the goalie plays, but ultimately it's better for the game.

I've definitely felt like the reffing has been bad the last couple seasons, worse than I'd remembered in all my years of watching hockey. It's starting to seem that guys like McGeough were not the exception, they're becoming the new standard.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but why can't it be those two reasons? Seems pretty clear that if they can reduce the size of goalie pads (while ensuring the safety of goaltenders) while keeping the size of the goal constant, there's going to be more net to shoot at, which will likely increase scoring.

I'm apparently in the minority, but I'd love for the Leafs to become a good team again. It'd be great for hockey. It wouldn't be the same because of these lovely conferences, but I miss the days of the rivalry between Detroit and Toronto.

Agreed. I can completely understand getting sick of the Crosby hype, but people act as if he does that himself. Watch him play the game. The kid's amazing and plays with incredible intensity.
