    Goalie Pads

Exactly. And cracking down on pad size will only reveal the truly elite goaltenders from the pretenders. The Brodeurs from the Legaces. Luongo will almost certainly still be an elite goalie, even with better fitting pads.

    Goalie Pads

Nothing is wrong with the technology improving. The problem is with the size. Pads got lighter, absorbed less water, then goalies started wearing larger ones because they didn't get ridiculously heavy during the course of the game.

Avery breaks off contract talks with Rangers

that's always been the rub with him. On paper he's great. Gritty, agitates, will fight, hit, can score. His biggest drawback is that he's Sean Avery.

    Goalie Pads

Actually Manny Legace uses 38" pads and he's 5'8" (on skates). That's how out of hand pad size has gotten.

NHL GM's Declare War on Goalies

this would be changing the game back. It's going to be bigger nets or smaller pads. Personally I'd rather they put the pads back closer to how they used to be. Obviously skill of the goalie has a lot to do with it. You can't put huge pads on anyone and suddenly they'd be a great goalie. But it's fairly obvious how larger pads on a good goalie are going to help.

    Goalie Pads

Plus in an earlier thread complaining about this, I posted pics comparing Giguere and Ron Hextall. Hextall was 6'3" 200 lbs. and his pads were much much smaller than Giguere's. It's an obvious example of how pad size has been ridiculously inflated by goaltenders over the years, and not just Giguere.

    Dom's new signature move

you should watch the whole video. it's directed by Billy Zabka, (aka Johnny from Karate Kid) and features a ton of guys from that movie.

nice win by the Wings. Way to grind it out. Kronwall #1 star for sure. Flip was great. Hasek made huge saves. Lilja with the save of the night.

Great work by Dats in the corner. the Wings need more of that.

I wish Dats would've shot there instead of passing.

The Wings need to hold a practice decicated purely to DON'T STOP PLAYING UNTIL YOU HEAR THE F*CKING WHISTLE.

Pretty funny the Sabres are whining about a penalty shot after what just happened in their crease.

honestly it almost could've been interference, but I don't think Draper was actually trying to throw a hit at first. The Buffalo player basically skated at him because he was trying to hit the puck carrier. Drapes just happened to cross in front.

Nice job Hoodlum! This PP unit has had much better chances tonight than the 1st unit.

okay, I do have to say, Sammy has done a good job getting the shots through from the point. the Wings haven't had enough bodies in front, but Samuelsson has been getting them deep, which is important. A lot of guys, like Lebda tends to, just end up blasting into player's shins.

In the interest of fairness, Stevie was known to have a mouth on the ice and definitely gave more than a few refs earfuls in his career. Still, I think he'd be more composed behind the bench than Gretzky has been.

Hey don't forget about his rushes deep into the zone where he runs out of ideas and just dumps it to the point.
