I'm guessing he didn't even watch the games.

2nd line scoring has been an issue all season, in spite of what the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" camp said. Sammy has been a disappointment in the goals department, which doesn't help. And the Wings needed Flip and Hudler to step up in a big way. Things looked promising the first half of the season, but now headed into the playoffs, not so much. Though honestly if they're gonna slump, I'm glad they're going it now to expose the lack of secondary scoring, so hopefully Holland makes a move.

I see you decided that baiting people in various threads wasn't enough, so you got right to it and start your own goalie bashing thread. Nice work! And it's "mark my words" there sparky.

Kevin Allen discussion on Wings deadline moves

Why would the Blues deal Jackman at all, unless they're convinced there's no way they can re-sign him? Edit: resign re-sign -
Not this year. It's a longshot, but if he works hard, keeps himself together and stays healthy, he may crack the lineup next season in Drake or Downey's spot.

The owners have no one to blame but themselves, they got just about every damn thing they wanted in this CBA, and the players still took the fall for being greedy. if they can't figure out how to make it work and even hint at another lockout (which would be the third in Bettman's reign), Bettman seriously does need to be fired, and the owners need to sell their franchises to someone who can run a profitable hockey team.

Hey, I didn't say I was watching! That would just be creepy. We're merely tracking your movements. (pardon the subtle scatalogical humor)
-
definitely. I think we could get him for Bilja and Budler. Bake it Bappen Benny!
-
No need. We're tracking you via GPS. Let me know when you're out of the bathroom.
-
No, you are following me! Knock it off! You just happened to get here first. off topic, where are you going next?
-
Does his name rhyme with Benrik Betterberg?

Like I said, I'd be jaw droppingly shocked if the Wings traded Kronwall right now. Not that he's irreplaceable, but in the short term (assuming he's healthy) I think he is. He's our #3 guy, one of the more physical guys, and would leave a gaping hole on D.
-
and exactly what top notch goalie should we bring in at the deadline to replace our current goalies?
-
I don't think so. He's going through a bunch of threads baiting people for a goalie war. As Wings_Dynasty pointed out, 35 points in 55 games is hardly blowing. I wouldn't mind Hossa, I just wonder what it would take to get him. Every trade deadline, reason seems to go out the window as GM's lose their minds and overbid for guys.

Yes. And you better be drunk. Ya know, for the team. -
Trade deadline in 2 weeks. Your one winger, and D.

Last night against the Blues, Stuart was definitely a factor offensively, even if it didn't end up on the scoresheet. Defensively he looked average. I didn't see any major gaffes. And being on the Kings, that's a positive. Especially because he wouldn't be carrying so many minutes on the Wings. The question mark for me is if he's physical at all. He's got the size, but I haven't seen enough of him to know if he'd use it at all on the Wings, or if he plays with an edge. I didn't see anything like that from him last night, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. -
I can't see them trading Kronwall. He's our third horse behind Nick and and Raf. Without him, there's a pretty big hole in our lineup. Filp or Hudler I could see one of them going in a deal if it brought in the right guy. Edited for repeating myself, repeating myself.

No surprise here. Dom's out with an injury, Ozzy is the starter. -
we should get to work now on some clever variation of his name like Osbad, Hasuck, Joseive.

I was surprised that this thread on Howard was such a hot topic. Now I see that it's still not about him. Goalie bashing has now become one level removed, because it's now about which goalie does or doesn't get bashed, who gets bashed more and how unfair it is. Good god it's even more childish than the actual goalie bashing. Is it fair that Dom gets ripped on by Wings fans for plays like sliding out on Gaborik? Is it fair that Ozzy won the Cup as a starting goaltender, just like Dom, but people give him little credit for it and even say they won in spite of him? Is it fair some people will ***** about Dom's unorthodox flopping, even though he's done it successfully for 15 seasons, won countless Vezinas and a Hart? The answer to all of the above is no, of course. The only way to avoid that is to come in, win a Cup for Detroit, then retire like Vernon. Dom had a shot at it, but made the mistake of coming back here. Legace should've known better and remained a backup because he was probably the most beloved Wings goalie of all time, until he became the starter. Detroit fans treat all goalies like sh*t. Period. They will generally receive too much of the blame, and too little of the credit. Next up to the whipping post, Jimmy Howard. Brace yourself kid.

This is total speculation on my part, but I wonder if this really will be the year Holland would sacrifice some of the future to make a big trade at the deadline. The Wings made the conference finals last season and had a good shot at winning the series. Despite the current slump, the team is tearing up the league. Lidstrom is 37 and still playing amazing hockey, but he's not gonna be in the lineup much longer. That will be a huge hole. (Holland has also alluded to retiring when Lids does). This is likely Hasek's last season. Next season will likely be an Osgood/Howard tandem. Howard is unproven and from past experience Holland doesn't have a ton of faith in Ozzy as the #1. The Wings have almost 5 and half million of cap space burning a hole in their pocket. If you were going to pick a year to go all in, seems to me this would be it.

I don't know if this has been brought up yet or not, but I thought it was interesting that Babcock gave the guys the day off today. He acknowledged that they're burnt out and need to get focused again. I hope that's all it is. Babs is a perfectionist, and I'm sure is on the guys to make the perfect play every single second of every shift. The reality is it's nearly impossible to sustain that kind of focus and perseverance over an 80 game season. He also mentioned that every team they've played has been desperate for wins, and the Wings are not. Though with 4 losses in a row, I think their pride will kick in and the guys should start digging deep. Edit: forgot a word. need coffee.
-
Actually they're pretty stupid words. Not sacrilegious. I can understand not liking Ozzy. Not wanting him to start. Not liking his face, or the sound of his voice, or hating him for some goal he let in 11 years ago, or whatever. But s***? He's played well this season, very well when you account for his intended role as backup and his salary. Saying he's s*** is a whiny little tantrum and oversimplification of why the Wings lost tonight. I am glad Howard got some ice time tonight though. I'm really curious to see if this kid's going to pan out or not. Hopefully Wings fans will let him play at least half a season before they turn on him and decide he's a worthless piece of crap.
-
Because he's also a Wings fan. Down boy.
