It sure seems like Downey is getting a lot of ice time tonight. Colorado playing a 1-4 trap? wtf? Are they playing for the tie already?
-
not at present. But when he was healthy, I absolutely agree.
-
I like Downey, but man he makes skating look hard.
-
something like that. though I'm drinking scotch, actually.
-
Let's hope so. Is is the Avs, after all. I'd love to see Downey, Lilja, and Kopecky drop the gloves tonight. Make things interesting. (Cleary can let his face heal a bit)
-
Yeah, with Dats and Z on either side of you in the corner, you're probably not gonna come away with the puck.
-
There's just something about the audio that makes it sound so sterile. Like I said, I can hear some people cheering, faintly in the background. Maybe I just need a better stereo.
-
Is McCormick the one who ran Lebda on that icing? Whoever it was, I hope Downey has his number.
-
But then our insightful and witty comments wouldn't be recorded for posterity!
-
Mickeyism: "If it looks like it, go ahead and paint it green." I have no idea what that means, but I may start using it.
-
It may just be something about the broadcast that makes it seem kinda dull too. They need to figure out how to mic games like HNIC. I know the Joe has a reputation for being quiet, but I don't think it's that quiet. I can hear people cheering. barely.
-
I hear ya. I've thought the same thing several times this season, and started to worry that maybe I just didn't like hockey as much as I used to, because the games seemed boring. The puck possession style is extremely effective, but can make for some snoozers.
-
Ah. Apparently you and I are the only ones watching the game. The GDT is as dead as the Joe!
-
someone better get in there and go after him for that b.s. everyone knew it was icing.
-
I tuned in a little late. What happened to him?
-
Chelios leaves it for Lilja. Lilja promptly turns it over behind his own net...
-
Nice move jumping in the play by Lids. He rarely shows his offensive skills, but you could see a bit of them there.
-
who was that with thte hit in the corner? was the puck anywhere near there?
-
1) Have you actually ever watched Crosby play? He's strong on the puck and isn't afraid to go anywhere on the ice. He even dropped the gloves with Ference (not that it's something he should or will be doing regularly). 2) I would be surprised if even Bettman were stupid enough to increase the net size. Unless you've got some link I haven't seen, it isn't happening anytime soon.
-
I keep forgetting he is just a kid, because he doesn't look that young and is so big and physical. But man, he's only 22!
-
That's great news. The Griffins will give a lot better indication of where his game is at, and take the next step in conditioning. There's no way Mac would crack the Wings lineup this season, but who knows for next year in the Drake/Downey slot. It's a longshot, but crazier things have happened.
-
Why does any thread about AO also have to determine if he's greater or lesser than Crosby? I can understand their rookie year, but aren't we over this yet? They're both very different players. There's really not a reason to compare them other than they came in the league the same year. Completely different style of game, not to mention they don't even play the same position. An AO/Kovalchuk comparison would make more sense.

Definitely one of the greats. Though his behavior this season has definitely tarnished his image for me. The indecision and stringing his team along like that seems so completely out of character for him. BUT, I don't want to derail this thread into debating that. So back on topic, definitely one of the best d-men out there.
-
Man, what a player. It's great to have this guy in the league. Now hopefully the Caps will put a better team around him.
