More drugs than I can get my hands on at the moment to believe that's even possible. He's signed through 2014 at 3.5 million a year. I think LA probably wants to hang on to him.

1) Not enough 2) Yes I can say alcohol was not a factor. He had virtually none in his system. For you to somehow imply he was drunk driving is patently false and ridiculous. 3) Celebrity? How many people in Atlanta do you think would recognize Heatley? Furthermore he pled guilty to four charges, on of which was a felony and was sentenced to 3 years probation. He avoided jail partly due to Snyder's family requesting leniency from the judge. The court also has to approve what car he buys and drives and he has to make 150 speeches about what he did. He was a young kid that acted incredibly recklessly and stupidly, and ended up killing his friend and teammate. The legal system is satisfied, Snyder's family is satisfied. Get over it. We were talking about his hockey related injury.

Rereading your post, it still sounds as if you meant that those Wings players would somehow be involved in a trade for Kopitar, Cammaleri or Frolov. Sorry if I misunderstood. Either way, the Kings are stupid, but even they're not stupid enough to trade Kopitar, and they just re-signed Cammaleri this summer, so that seems highly unlikely as well (and would also be a stupid move on their part).

1) It's not what this thread is about. 2) He wasn't drunk, if that's what you're implying. I think he admitted to having one beer, but was nowhere near the legal limit. He was speeding and reckless driving. Alcohol wasn't a factor. 3) The legal system apparently disagrees with you.

You seriously expect to get Cammalleri, Frolov or Kopitar for Sammy, Lilja or Franzen? Step away from the playstation dude.

Yeah I saw the highlights and that third one was from a really poor angle. It's hard to tell exactly what happened from the replay though. Sometimes the puck just has eyes.

I didn't get to see the game tonight. Did the Wings really play like crap? Or was it a case of a really good team making their opponent look bad?
-
Have the Wings had a goaltender interference call go their way this season? I'm not being sarcastic, I honestly am not sure. Of the games I've seen they've all been against us. I don't remember any being called for someone interfering with our goalies.

Here's John Buccigross's answer to the Ozzy hall of fame question. Unfortunately, I think he's right. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/stor...&id=3089750 The selections are in no way a science. Ozzy probably won't get in because to most people he doesn't seem like a Hall of Famer. I'd love to be wrong though.

Hudler first, then probably Franzen. I'd have a hard time having to pick between Flip and Cleary.
-
That's why I think he won't make it in. Not to say it's fair. Based on his career and numbers, he's a legit candidate. But he's never been considered elite and never gotten much respect. His success is attributed to playing for Detroit most of his career. I don't see that changing.
-
yeah, but I thought they couldn't start "officially" negotiating until after July or something like that, when he's in the last year of his contract.

Right now Zetterberg makes $4 million less than Datsyuk and almost 5 million less than Lidstrom. He's still near the top of the league right now in scoring, despite missing games. He deserves a hefty raise considering he's one of the biggest bargains in the NHL right now.
-
Why would he settle for a million less per year than what they paid Datsyuk? And potentially less than what they signed Rafalkski for?
-
13 years for $124 million. Wow. As the article points out, it's the biggest contract in NHL history.

Shoot Out skills competition to be judged now?

My biggest fear is that Bettman will get inspired and start forcing other all-star spectacles into regular season games. Faceoffs now decided by seeing which player can bat the puck in the air the most times. No more power plays, now the goalie is pulled and a designated player shoots at discs in the corners. Break all the discs in 5 shots or less and your team gets a goal. -
Should We Alternate Goalies in the Playoffs?

My opinion of Hasek's poor start is based first and foremost on watching the games. But with that, Babcock has referenced his poor start, as has Hasek himself, not to mention hockey journalists. But you're saying it's really only 3 games, 2 of which weren't really his fault??? No wonder puckloo is your biggest fan. Manipulate the numbers (and reality) all you want. Dom started this season poorly. I think he would say that himself. At the time the excuse was "Dom always starts slow" so even Hasek fans were acknowledging his poor performance, but now that he's seemingly back on track, revised history is that it didn't really happen at all. Nice. -

Best two-handed slash is now an all star competition? -
That's what I was thinking. There's a couple guys who probably deserve to be there before Legace, Leclaire definitely being one of them.
-
wow. just wow. that's so dry I dont know if many people even picked up on the awful pun.
-
Uh, no. It means I think he could be exactly what the team needs based on what I know about him over the years. But I was admitting that I haven't seen him play a lot recently so I can't say for certain if his game is still at the level it used to be, or if it's been affected by age/injuries.

This all seems strangely familiar... -
I'm surprised how many people wouldn't want him here just because of the Avs thing. Remember Chelios when he was a Blackhawk? He was honestly probably one of the players I hated most in all the NHL. And just as an excuse to use the new video feature....

Oh, that silly Bob Clarke on that silly Steve Downie

I don't follow how the new NHL is more likely to have cheapshot artists and tough guys, or why the fighting aspect is going to grow, as opposed to the old NHL. With the salary cap, the more open game, and the instigator rule, it seems like it's less likely teams can afford (monetarily, roster spot, and liability on the ice) guys who have little value other than fighting or cheapshots. -
I have zero problem with him being from the Avs rivalry years. On paper he's what the Wings could use on the blueline. A big, physical depth defenseman. I just haven't seen him play in a long time so I don't know what his health and game is currently like.
