Do we actually have it all?

Devereaux wasn't on the team for the 97 and 98 Cup wins.

Maybe we should bring back Dandenault. No Dandenault = no Cup.

    12/10 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1

Watch the goal again. In no way was he pushed into Osgood. He just didn't stop in time. Lidstrom was parallel to him making a play with his stick. He made no push on Legwand towards Osgood. Legwand did it himself. It doesn't matter that he wasn't touching him when the goal was scored, he'd just knocked Osgood down. Even if he wasn't still physically touching him (which he may have been) he was still in the crease and had interfered the goalie from making a play on the puck. By the standards they use this season it absolutely was goaltender interference. (you can watch the highlight here) http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?date=12%2F10%2F...mp;service=page You have to put on your Predator-colored glasses to see the play correctly. With them on you'll see that Tootoo is a talented, valuable player and not a dirtbag, Nashville is a great market for hockey, and Legwand was pushed into Osgood (by who I have no idea).

If Bettman stepped down as commissioner....

At first I was ready to be all outraged that the majority chose Burke. Then I took a gander at the other names on the list. I could see how people would think Burke is the king of the NHL loudmouths.

    enough is ENUFF! Crosby

If people don't like hockey, then ultimately you're right, they're not going to watch it no matter how much you hype Crosby. But I think a more appropriate analogy is for people who've never tried broccoli, if they keep hearing about some great new broccoli that's the best to come along in decades, they might just try it and discover they like it. I do agree however that the NHL has to stay true to its core audience and not cheapen the game to try and appeal to non-fans with some cheap stunt like shootouts, for example. EDIT: excessive use of commas.

    Would It Be Inappropriate?

Exactly. I'm sure they're expecting that fans will want pictures and autographs. Just throw some cash in the bucket first.

Not all that?? I hated Gretzky when he was playing and he still bugs me as a coach, but he lacked the physical gifts that Lemeiux had (who was 6'4" and 230 lbs) and still dominated the game. Gretzky wasn't big, wasn't particularly fast, didn't have a wicked slap or wristshot. He just had a superior sense and understanding of hockey. He owns just about every hockey record there is. I completely understand not liking the guy, but it doesn't diminish what he did as a player.

    12/10 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1

It was a joke jackass. do I need to go back and put a smiley face next to it? my main point was that it's stupid to make fun of Preds announcers for saying "Detroy-it" when I heard it that way on Hockey Night in Canada for years watching hockey growing up. Because the Preds announcers say it that way doesn't make them stupid, or rednecks, or whatever the original implication was.

The preds announcers are canadians, right? That's how they say it on CBC too.

    Nashville blows

I don't think it's an insult to Wings fans. I think it's mainly an insult to Preds fans. While I can understand the pricing strategy, I do think it is colossaly stupid for a struglling franchise. And I guess it's also an insult to those teams they don't charge the premium rates for. D

I would love for the Predators to miss the minimum attendance average needed for them to get their welfare check from the league. If they can't average 13,125 people per game, they don't deserve the 10 to 15 million dollars they get through revenue sharing. At some point this team has to prove it will be financially viable and not just a drain on the league. If I understand revenue sharing correctly in the new CBA, to get welfare a team has to have at least 75% of league average attendance (13,125) AND generate a year to year growth rate in revenue that is greater than the league's growth rate. So if the NHL continues to grow and attendance figures improve, the bar keeps getting raised for what the Preds have to achieve to qualify for welfare. It'll just be harder for them each season, assuming the league improves, and they'll receive less money from the rest of the league.

Which players are better than Crosby, a handful maybe? How many of those players are 20 years old and in their third year in the league? The league needs icons, and this kid is truly the future of the sport. It sounds like your problem is with lazy and cheesy journalists, not Crosby. They're the ones coming up with crap like that.

    Hasek Challenges, Gaborik goes Airborn

:rotflmao: Maybe hockey is just too cruel a sport for your delicate sensibilities then. When Hasek skated out, he couldn't have known that Gaborik would have his head down the whole time. That's not his responsibility, it's Gaborik's. This thread has become a serious candidate for dumbest thread ever here. The Wings won the game 5-0, Zetterberg got a hat trick, Hasek got a shutout, and there's still a 12 page thread ripping on the Wings goaltender for one play. A play where no one was hurt.

The same thing happens with Dats and Z while watching a Red Wings game. I can see how the hype would get tiring. But the kid is a phenom. And he has completely lived up to the hype. If a 19 year old in any other major sport had achieved what he has, it would be on ESPN around the clock. They'd rename the channel after him.

    enough is ENUFF! Crosby

As a 19 year old in his 2nd season in the NHL, he won the Art Ross, Lester B. Pearson, and Hart Trophy. He finished the season with 36 goals and 84 assists. He scored a point per game in his first ever NHL playoff series. He currently is tied for 2nd place in the NHL in points with the likes of Zetterberg, Kovalchuk, and Alfredsson. Not too shabby of company. And did I mention he's 20 years old? What were any of those guys doing when they were 20? Youngest player in NHL history to record 100 points in a season Youngest player in NHL history to record 200 career points (19 years and 207 days) Youngest player in NHL history to have 2 consecutive 100 point seasons.[1][2] Youngest player to be voted to the NHL All-Star Game[36] Youngest player in NHL history to win the Art Ross Trophy[6] Youngest player in NHL history to win the Lester B. Pearson Award[23] Youngest player in NHL history to be named to the First All-Star Team[25] His talent doesn't warrant the publicity?? Are you kidding me?
  18. What really killed me was the missed fieldgoal. That more than the two blown interference calls were a clear sign god wants the Cowboys to win. From that range, Hanson is usually as automatic as they come.
  19. I rarely get to watch the Lions because the games typically aren't broadcast where I live. Today I'm so thankful for that fact. (and wished I hadn't watched today's game).

    Hasek Challenges, Gaborik goes Airborn

I can't believe the bashing here is so off base that I'm actually supporting Hasek. I think Dom has been mostly terrible this year. It's nice to see he's put together a couple games where he looks like an NHL goaltender again. Hopefully he'll still split time with Ozzy, because Osgood has earned it. And I do think Hasek is generally overrated a little at this point in his careeer because of his prior achievements. But that has nothing to do with this play. Dom made the decision to come out after the puck and challenge. He's made that play before, as have other goalies, like Belfour. It's not an unprecedented move. It just ended with a spectacular flip. It turned into a somewhat dangerous play and he was called for tripping. Gaborik was okay. Dom was okay. The Wings won the game. Those of you who think he clearly went for the knees or knew what Dom was thinking need to examine your bias against him, just as much as the Dom lovers who think he's still a god among goalies.

    Hasek Challenges, Gaborik goes Airborn

Norrisnick brought up a good point on another board. Gaborik points out (as people here have) the score was 5-0, he wasn't expecting Hasek to come charging out. But you could turn that around. The score was 5-0, why was Gaborik cherrypicking instead of helping his team defensively so they don't get embarrassed more? He was interested in personal goals as much as Hasek was in keeping the shutout. And this thread should probably be merged, in my opinion.

    Hasek Challenges, Gaborik goes Airborn

I love it when people try to use that as some justification. Look, you hate Hasek. We get it. Quoting the coach from the opposing team doesn't somehow give your opinion more credibility. His player almost landed on his head, what's he supposed to say, "Nice play Dom?" Hasek said he had no intent to injure. Doesn't he know more than you? I would hope that an NHL coach would take it up with the league and not whine to the press. all good points. I agree that Hasek is riding on his rep. He plays good, and it becomes "great" because of who he is. Whereas Ozzy plays great and for most people it's "good" because of his rep. But that has nothing to do with this play.

    Hasek Challenges, Gaborik goes Airborn

Well said. Center Ice is great because it exposes fans to games around the league that, like you said, they have no vested interest in. It gives a much broader view and knowledge of the game. Because as much as we try not to be biased, it's pretty hard to do when the Wings are involved. If the roles were reversed and this happened to Z or Dats, first and foremost I'd be glad they weren't hurt. I'd probably be a little ticked, but hopefully see it for what it was. Dom came sliding out, but didn't make any extra motion like sticking an arm or a leg out to take Gaborik down. If he had, there'd be reason to be pissed.

my homer lenses? Do you not see how funny a statement that is? "Yes, I don't like Hasek but I see the play perfectly objectively. He was clearly going for Gaborik's knees. Because you disagree with me, you are a Wings homer who is biased." You're ignoring how fast this play happened. Hasek slid down and did hit the puck. That's not making a play on it? It could've been even worse had he jammed his stick at the puck and right into Gaborik's feet. You need to watch the clip. He could've easily poked the puck away? Are you high? I'd like to see you skate out of the net as fast as you can in goalie pads and easily make a pokecheck on Gaborik skating in on a breakaway. Pot, meet kettle. This is all about you not liking Hasek. You calling me a homer is hilarious. And if you've read over any of my posts in the last weeks, you'd know I'm hardly a Hasek slappy. He's played like garbage this year, with the exception of the last couple games. He doesn't suck for two games and some people are faliing all over themselves saying he's back. It's gonna take more than that before I'm convinced. EDIT: Kelsey Grammar

The fact that you think you can tell what Dom's exact intent was is a pretty good indication this is influenced by you not liking him.
