For starters, my warning was not about that comment. It was a result of multiple posts I deleted. Complaining about Holland is on topic and contains insults directed at someone who is not a member of this board. It isn't a personal attack. Making comments about people's level of fandom of is off topic, derails threads, and often involves personal attacks, all of which are against forum rules. So is circumventing the profanity filter. If anyone has a problem with a person making an on-topic post that is within forum rules, you can simply add them to the ignore list or don't read the post. If a post is in clear violation of forum rules, report it to bring it to a moderators attention. If you care to discuss it further, PM me or one of the other moderators. It won't be discussed further in this thread. Any posts attempting to do so will be deleted.

Rafalski is replaceable. Lidstrom, not so much. Which is why you don't try and replace Lidstrom with one guy. You have to re-evaluate how the whole team is built, because Lids was the keystone of it. Then you make adjustments and give the team a new identity. Since Lidstrom retired, the Wings are basically the same kind of team only with a massive hole in the blueline and with Dats, Z, and Franzen no longer in their prime.

As I've stated in several threads, comments complaining about how fans are reaction will be deleted and will result in suspension. Stay on topic.

I want Holland to do his job well. He's been flailing over the last several years. The reason they're not coming here is because players aren't excited at the prospect of playing for the Red Wings anymore. That's on Holland. No one is saying his job isn't extremely difficult, but it's that way for 29 other GM's. As I said in another thread, replace Holland's name with Dan Cleary. Cleary outworks just about everyone on the team which is admirable but he simply doesn't get the results to be competitive at the NHL level. Is that acceptable because he's a great guy who's trying with everything he's got? I don't care how hard Holland tried. Results matter. He's not getting any.

It's pretty simple. The Red Wings don't seem like one of the top competitive teams or a team with a lot of potential headed in the right direction. This team continues to have no identity post-Lidstrom.

But it sounds like it had zero to do with the Tampa Bay team and everything to do with not getting picked for the Olympics. I just don't see how it's a reflection on how Yzerman is running things there. St. Louis was able to use his NTC to hand pick his destination, putting Yzerman in a difficult situation. In the end the Bolts came away with Callahan. I think that's making a pretty good deal out of a bad situation.

I don't really put the whole St. Louis drama on Yzerman. I actually thought he handled it quite well given the circumstances.
