Thank you refs for the makeup calls... come on guys. let's take the lead.
-
Right here boys. Power play goal...
-
Z!
-
and our second line depends on two 23 year olds in their second year in the league.
-
Regardless of which way the calls are going, with the refs this whistle happy, it's impossible for there to be any flow to the game.
-
Dude, you're gonna have to pay me way more than that to have sex with Pronger or Perry. And you can triple it if you're expecting both of them at once.
-
I think that was a pretty weak call on Flip. Overall thought the Wings don't seems to have legs tonight.
-
I was wondering how long until you'd show up here. Yeah, based on 5 games he's definitely turning it around. Using your extrapolation, he's also on pace to be -33 and have about 17 more cheapshots this year.* The worst thing the Preds could do is give Tootoo more ice time. For every goal he has a hand in, there'll be twice as many ending up in his own net. The best numbers Tootoo has a shot at improving are suspensions. Seriously, you're defense of all things Nashville has gone from respectable to hilarious. *that's assuming the flying elbow is the only one so far. There may have been others I didn't hear about. Edited for typos.

Yeah, I've not been crazy about some of Maltby's antics over the years since he doesn't drop the gloves. But he's still a world away from Tootoo. tootoo has been in the league 3 years now and has already developed a reputation as a cheapshot artist. Maltby skating without a stick is still a better defensive forward and PK player than tootoo. In other words, even without the questionable stuff, Maltby is still an asset to the team. Without his cheapshots, Tootoo is nothing.

Watching that video again, man I hate that dirtbag. What a flying elbow he threw around the net. He had to stay down, otherwise he would've had to take his beating like a man. funny how they don't keep showing the portion of the replay where Tootoo just missed with the elbow.
-
Exactly. They desperately need goaltending, but not at the cost of destroying your potential franchise guy's confidence as he sees more rubber than paris hilton on any given night.
-
Exactly. He's known around the league as one of the "hit to hurt" guys. And don't mean Scott Stevens style. I mean flying shoulders and elbows to the head. The difference is (and I'm not disagreeing that they're all douchebags) is that Pronger, Lemieux and Samuelsson actually have other abilities than cheapshotting guys. Pronger's a great defenseman who occasionally makes dirty plays. I hate Lemieux's guts, but the guy was clutch in the playoffs. and samuelsson. Well he's mostly just a douchebag. But he still had worlds more talent than Tootoo.
-
nope. Tootoo is a cheapshot artist. He has no offensive upside and is a defensive liability. so why exactly would I love his style of play on the Wings? As for the "elbow" it looked like a total dive by Tootoo to draw a bigger penalty. He caught him with one arm under the chin and Tootoo wasn't even going that fast. It couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy. Still answering cheapshots with cheapshots is going the wrong direction. I'd rather that dirtbags like Tootoo weren't in the NHL.

Why? His conduct had nothing to do with hockey. He wasn't drunk. It was just terrible judgement by a young kid in a fast car, with horrific results.
-
It's Dom's job to lose. And as NFM pointed out, it's hardly enough games to make that decision. If Ozzy keeps playing like he did last night though, he'd definitely give Dom a run for his money.
-
what he said.
-
double post.

I know it's the longest of longshots, but I would love it if the Wings managed to sign Selanne. If he comes back at all though, I'm guessing it's to the Ducks, with him and Niedermayer "sitting out" to give Anaheim some cap relief.
-
I do think they need a proven scorer to help carry that 2nd line and elevate the play of Flip and Hudler. That guy sure ain't sammy. And looking down the roster there really isn't anyone that stands out.
-
But what Heatley did didn't happen on the ice. It was reckless and unbelievably bad judgement on his part, but he hasn't shown any horrible behavior while playig hockey. so how is that relevant to how he plays the game? Boulerice on the other hand has twice now tried to brain a guy with his stick during a game.
-
The Wings would be scary good if they had a second line. And holy hell Draper continues to dominate on faceoffs. He's listed as winning 11 out of 15 tonight.
-
not able to watch the game right now. checking the box score, it looks like it's been all the first line and Draper again?
-
yeah, as stressful as it might make the regular season, I think having more competition in the regular season is only going to expose weaknesses and toughen the team for the playoffs. And since they're the only other original 6 team in the West, it'd be great to have both these franchises be competitive.
-
3 goals and 2 assists in 5 games. Not bad. As uninspired as he was out there a lot of times, Lang was still a more legit 2nd line center than anyone we've got right now (with Dats on Z on the 1st line). It would be nice to have the Hawks be a good team again and renew that rivalry. The league could use some of that.

After watching the clip of what Boulerice did in the OHL, I change my answer. This douchebag doesn't belong in the NHL. 25 games isn't enough. If being suspended from the OHL didn't teach him control his temper and his stick, 25 games isn't going to either.
