I'm watching the USC, Arizona game. Man is USC still overrated. Right now they're down 10-13. They lost last week to a 41 point underdog, they barely squeaked by Washington the week before that. Even if they manage to win this win, they're no way they deserve to be a top 10 team.
-
No, I don't regret the Wings getting rid of him. He never fit well here, and his play had gone downhill each season. But if the Wings are gonna lose to Chicago, I'm glad it's at the hands of Robert Lang. To shut up all the idiots here who made it sound like he didn't even deserve to play beer league hockey. EDIT: and on a sidenote about Lou's post, Thank f-ing god Harrington is gone. Though I don't think Harrington is a good analogy with Lang. Joey was much more detrimental to his team than Bobby was.

It sucks we lost, but seriously, Bobby Lang killing us twice with timely goals. That's hilarious. He's Lazy and he's clutch.â„¢

Perhaps he's not quite as crappy as many people here made him out to be. And the Hawks should be a much better team than they have in years past. Still not great, but looks like they could finally be getting it together.

"the main man?" Dy-no-mite!!!!
-
Seriously. It seems like it's been worse than usual this season. Even on Zetterberg's goal last game, it was a situation where Dats probably should've shot the puck.
-
I'll laugh my ass off if Lang gets the winning goal. Last time didn't he have the tying goal that sent it to a shootout? I guess even though he's lazy and sucks™, he's still good enough to score on the Red Wings.

4rd period? Me thinks the wine has done more than make you sleepy.

I am barely breathing... and I can't find the air... Didn't know he was a blackhawk.
-
Man, that fire on ice intro is awwwful.
-
I hope you used this time off to think about what you did.
-
no goal and a penalty. crappity crap.
-
why'd it get waved off?
-
Yeah, I haven't seen Lapointe much over the years, so maybe he's improved. But he's not a guy who jumps to mind as a first unit PK.
-
Lapointe on the PK?
-
Kris Draper. The Wings new sniper.
-
If not now, he will by the end of the season. Unless he enjoys having all that extra time off work in the spring.
-
that's probably just gas you're feeling.
-
Very good point. It's not that often you see a Detroit defenseman just firing the puck off the boards for his forwards to go retrieve.
-
Agreed. Unfortunately, if it were Pronger's name on the back of the jersey, there's no way this suspension is more than 10 games.
-
It won't.

I think Kronwall picks his spots better than Markov often did. He's definitely not up to his potential, but if he stays healthy, I've still got hope for him. His speed and passing ability definitely help the Wings get out of their zone and get up ice (Lebda's speed does too, but to a lesser extent because he usually does it rushing up the ice himself versus a set play). He just needs to cut down on the turnovers. EDIT: Also, any defenseman on the Wings is going to suffer criticism because of Lidstrom. 99.9% of the time, Lidstrom makes the right play. It's freakish. And it's an unrealistic standard compared to all but 2 or 3 other defenseman in the league.

Should Pavel and Hank stay on the same line?

Because it covers up a weakness that will be exposed come playoff time. It's great watching Dats and Z together. But it makes the Red Wings a one line threat. That's good enough to get through their (relatively) weak division, but not good enough come playoff time. -
Four games, four bad pinches, four goals against for Lilja
haroldsnepsts replied to 40#1Fan's topic in General
For the last time, who has been saying that Kronwall is a future Lidstrom? I know some people have called him little Nik, but that's because of the name and nationality, not style of play. Even if Kronner does become a great defenseman, it's not going to be in the mold of Lidstrom. He's a more offensive defenseman who hits well. Does that sound like Lids? I don't think anyone seriously has the expectation for him to be the next Lidstrom. My main concern with Kronwall is him managing to stay healthy. Over the last three seasons in the NHL, he's played in 115 regular season games. It's no wonder he looks out of rhythm sometimes and is making rookie mistakes. I'm not sure he'll ever stay healthy enough to reach his potential at this level. as for Raflaski's plus minus, I think I'll wait at least a whole 5 games into the season before I draw any conclusions from that stat. EDIT: changed Kronwalls total number of games. got wrong info on his stats at first. The Wings do need grit, and they do need players who will drop the gloves and stick up for teammates. Lilja is not a physical player and not much of a fighter. The fact that he is considered either of those things only shows how much this team is lacking it. Spot on. Looks like Lilja and Sammy will be the new LGW whipping boys. They're the only thing keeping us from the Cup, right? -
He definitely looked like he was trying to get him to fight, you can see him start to drop the gloves when Kesler is on the ice. or maybe he was just trying to finish braining the guy if the stick didn't do it. No matter what he was thinking, he crosschecked a guy right in the face. This better be at least 20 games. As for Vancouver, wow. Gagne could've been sitting in a lounge chair by the far post on his goal. How do you leave someone sitting there like that for so long?
