Yeah, I should be clear, I think Burke's line of reasoning is total B.S. regarding neidermayer's hit forcing it. But I can't say I'm surprised he would have that stance.
-
Man I loved Hextall. He was definitely crazy, even for a goaltender.
-
In the spirit of moving on, and tempering the Pronger death wishes. Basically I feel the way about Pronger that I used to feel about Chelios when he played in Chicago. good tough players sometime make bad decisions. Pronger is missing a HUGE playoff game as a result. Justice was served. but to be clear, I still hate Pronger.
-
I honestly didn't have have a big problem with what Burke said either. He saw it differently. He basically claims that Niedermayer's hit stopped Homer in a way that caused Pronger to hit his head. And he called the Wings and Babcock honorable several times for how they handled it and the fact that the Wings put Homer back in the game instead of milking it (like some fans here suggested). can we get a little perspective here? I feel like it's piling on at this point. Pronger threw a dirty hit. Everyone got pissed. Pronger got suspended. He doesn't deserve to die. Holmstrom seems okay. Let's play hockey. Do you guys forget we have a few players that aren't exactly angels on the team? I was as pissed as anyone when I actually saw the footage, but it's time to move on.
-
I'm not really hearing him sounding like he's gonna cry or anything. He sounds frustrated and annoyed. Whether that's with the stupid questions from reporters or about the suspension, it's hard to tell. Not to mention the sound quality was so crappy it was hard to hear anything.
-
I thiink Niedermayer already got more than he deserved. Not surprising they didn't suspend or even meet with him.
-
Nice. Looking forward to a Prongerless game 4.
-
Pronger wasn't smiling. He was breathing. And he didn't really comment on it. I saw a postgame interview somewhere and he said the usual crap about finishing your check, glad to see he was okay. then when asked if he was worried about a suspension, he said no. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=207866&hubname=nhl click the link for Red Wings/Ducks Report. And I totally believe and understand Niedermayer being a little baffled.
-
Agreed. And honestly, I'd be pretty happy with that. Not having Pronger in the lineup for game 4 is a pretty big deal. The Wings would only have to worry about Niedermayer, and he can be distracted fairly easily if you just muss up his indie rock hair.
-
Unless he was seriously risking further injury by going back out, he absolutely should have been out there. That sends a stronger message than any neutered league officials would likely manage with a suspension.
-
Now here's hoping the league locates its testicles and suspends Pronger for that double elbow to the back of Homer's head. Honestly I'll be amazed if they do anything, but I'd be happy with even one game.

When we first signed him I was calling him the Abdominatorâ„¢ or The Groin.

Glad to hear homer's back. When you think about it, how much damage could it really have done to his brain? the guy stands in front of the net all game getting whacked by defenseman as he steps in front of 90 mph slapshots. He's back because he already had a screw loose. -

Oh. I guess I've heard unmolested used fairly often, as in "not interfered with, disturbed or harmed." not the more disturbing connotation. -

or how 'bout we just stop reading stupid posts from the Ducks board and polluting this board by quoting them? pretty please? If I wanted to get angered by idiot fans, I'd troll on their site. -

Am I the only one who thinks that's not weird? I hear it in sports all the time. -

Maybe after a stoppage of play in the Wings end, Dom should go all Hextall on Pronger. -

for someone who can't watch the game (me) can someone tell me what just happened? -
Exactly. Before his addictions got the best of him, Probert was awesome to watch. Edited for typo.
-
exactly. they should make them wear old leather equipment with no water repellent covering. See how big they want those pads when they soak up 20 pounds of water.
-
The chest/arm/shoulder protection is going to be hard to regulate. But they could definitely reduce the size of the trapper and blocker without really decreasing the safety of the goalie. Leg pad width too.
-
Well said. And where are the Barnes Brothers? This team has shown so much grit and heart, those guys should be here giving some props.
-
Giguere is a very good goaltender. Yes he's a big guy who uses gigantic equipment, but it's legal. And he's not the only one doing it. Before the NHL considers increasing the net size by even a millimeter, they need to do a better job at restricting goaltender equipment. Doesn't seem any more out of line than Luongo's pads, but I don't hear anyone complaining about him.
