Yes Maltby and Draper get a pass. Draper had 14 goals this season. He was the total offense in that first road game in Calgary. If those guys score, it's a great thing, but it's not their primary role. Lidstrom has been great in the postseason, he's just had to go up against some monsters. I agree Lilja and Cheli have been solid. (Lids is our best dman, not Lilja). Dats has been good. Z has been okay but not himself. Cleary has been awesome. Homer has been good. Franzen and Lids have been great. Schneider has been good. Drapes good. Maltby okay. What does that prove exactly?

could you please stop labeling someone a hater simply because they have some criticism of Datsyuk? Dats and Z have been playing pretty well, but there's no way around their lack of production on the road. They both have 0 goals, 0 assists, and are -4 in away games. It's not being a hater; it's hockey analysis. If we're going to get past San Jose and especially in the next round, we need both Dats and Z to get on the board on the road. It's not that I think they can't or won't, they just need to. exactly. threads like this turn into a flame war because a minor comment about Datsyuk draws such a reaction from his supporters. Overall Dats has played well. He's scored and had a lot of great chances. Saying he needs to score in away games is not an unreasonable thing to ask of your highest paid star player.

Exactly. Thornton is the go-to, big contract guy on San Jose and he's stepped up in a big way. Dats is the go-to big money guy on Detroit, we need him to step up too. And Hank has had moments, but is nowhere near the force he was before his injury.

I want them to score on the road. Between the two of them they have zero points in all the away games. I'm not saying they've played poorly, but they're getting shut down on the road. That's the thing. We need them to show up on the road, and they haven't yet this playoffs. To get past San Jose and to get anywhere in the next round, we need our top two forwards producing on the road as well as at home.

Exactly. When the Wings lose, 99% of the posts here are about their problems and lack of effort. Occassionally someone will throw the opponent a bone and admit that it might not have been complete luck that they won. And honestly I'd be extremely pissed losing if the Wings were up 2-0 through 19 minutes of the second period, and up 2-1 through 19 and half minutes of the third period, and still lost.

there are definitely exceptions the rule when blaming refs. I mainly was referring to those who make it sound like those dastardly refs are out to get the Wings. They aren't. But they still f*ck up from time to time and it can cost us. As for the Eurotwins, you couldn't be more right. They are the new leaders of the team and need to step up. The Wings won't get very far without them on the board.
