    Game 5: (4/21) Flames @ Red Wings - 3:00 PM ET

yeah, the fact that the ref called a penalty on cleary when it was Lebda is a pretty good indication he didn't see what happened and was making a late call.

all right. good thing that period is over. the wings need to regroup. There were a lot of defensive mistakes that could've killed us. Luckily Dom bailed us out. They need to be extremely disciplined. Calgary is winning because of power play goals and we're losing because our lack of scoring them. That can only continue for so long.

F*ck iginla. He used to be one of my favorite players, but his antics are getting so old... sure Jarome, drop the gloves and pull down your visor nice and tight.

    Game 5: (4/21) Flames @ Red Wings - 3:00 PM ET

i'm still pissed that the Wings did exactly what the should - go hard to the net, and the refs took away a goal AND put us shorthanded. it's called playoff hockey zebras.

    Game 5: (4/21) Flames @ Red Wings - 3:00 PM ET

that was a legit call on schneider. the first hit was okay, but then he kept hanging on to the guy along the boards when the puck had gone into the corner.

c'mon schneider, did you forget about the new rules?

Man Z looks gassed after a long shift shadowing iginla.

Wow. what a precious relationship Kipper has with the ref. He whines and they call a penalty on the wrong guy. Then Maltby gets checked into him and gets a penalty. Meanwhile Iginla elbows Dom to the head with no one around him, Dom gets the penalty.

    Toretella drops an F-bomb

Hasn't he done that before? A couple years back I seem to remember him dropping some F-bombs after a tough loss.

    bye bye nashville

Tootoo once again proving what an asset he is to the team managing a -2 and 21 PIM. Pretty impressive for a guy who averaged 9 minutes a game over 4 games.

    Change of Pace: Slava Kozlov

I haven't had a chance to see him play in a while, but it sure seems like he'd be an upgrade over samuelsson. As others have mentioned, Slava was streaky in the regular season, but big in the playoffs.

When a fan of our opponent is the voice of reason here, you know things have gotten bad. It's a three game series now and we've got two at home.

Hasek: "if we don't change, we could be in trouble."

The full quote: Do you seriously think this is anything like what Legace said last year? He said their special teams were better. And that the Wings need to do small things better or they could be in trouble. Hardly a critical statement, just stating the obvious. Seriously, step away from the ledge. You're reading waaaaay too much into this little comment.

    Post-GAME 4: Flames 3, Red Wings 2

I'm not saying I want the guy for three more years. It's just that everyone's been bitching how Lang hasn't shown up. He had a strong game last night and his nice pass directly led to the Bert goal (and I think he was going to the net on the Franzen goal). So he starts to finally show up and people don't acknowledge it, bitching more instead.

Didn't Lang set up Bert's goal or did I see that wrong?

Will Hasek Start the back 2 back?

all goals that goaltenders let in will eventually be the one that cost them the game. Would you really want to pull Hasek at this point? Hasek's been playing great. Goaltenders get scored on. It happens. I swear, you guys wouldn't be happy with Luongo in net. Once he got here there'd be talk about all his "soft" goals and that he's overrated.

Will Hasek Start the back 2 back?

The Iggy goal was one he would like to have back but that happens to all goaltenders, even the great ones. It's hardly what I'd call a sub-par peformance. I don't see Dom getting yanked from net in the playoffs unless he's injured. Kipper has been playing great the series. it's just nice to have a goaltender that's playing at the same level.

    Robert Lang

If Z doesn't produce for 25+ games, I think people will be complaining.

    STAY POSITIVE

Unfortunately I didn't get to see all the game, but from what I saw, the Wings were generally a mess (with the exception of Cleary and Draper) and Calgary was playing extremely well in their own building. And they won by one goal scored halfway through the third. The odds of Detroit playing that poorly again, and Calgary managing to play that well again three more times seem pretty low to me. Last night for the first time we saw the Wings were actually playing an opponent with some heart.

Lidstrom played unusually bad in game 3

A goal is rarely one player's fault alone. Lids misplayed Iginla, but Hasek is usually gonna stop a wrist shot from the top of the faceoff circle, even if it is Iginla. That's not exactly a high quality scoring chance for a wrist shot. I like how the first two games everyone is badmouthing Iginla, now that he scores the gamewinner on Hasek, suddenly he has an unstoppable shot.

    Glowing Puck

The problem i had with the glowig puck was that contrary to its purpose, I actually had a harder time following it. Yes, I could see the big glowing thing wherever it was on the ice, but a lot of the time I couldn't tell if a shot had scored or gone two feet wide of the net. It was all a big glowing blur. That's a dealbreaker for me. I'll admit that it can be hard to find the puck if you're a new fan, but eventually you figure out the flow of the game. Besides, tv's have gotten so much bigger, and with the advent of Hi-Def, it should be less of an issue.

    Kiprusoff

I actually like Iginla most of the time, but you're right, he's been shut down so far. Let's hope it stays that way. I'm betting he'll be looking for any excuse to drop the gloves in the next game.
  23. haroldsnepsts

    Kiprusoff

not at all. He's played amazing and probably will continue to through the series. As for the rest of the flames, that's a different story...
  24. haroldsnepsts

    Kiprusoff

Definitely. That combined with his style of play. You'd have a hard time putting together a Nick Lidstrom highlight reel. No flashy moves, no bone crushing hits. A lot of nice one time slappers from the blueline, but that's about it. Everything else he does he makes look so easy that it's not flashy. Great stickwork, always in position, nice first pass out of the zone. Making the right play nearly every second of every shift. That's why it's hard for me to be civil anytime one of those threads pops up about how Lids doesn't deserve his salary.

    The Tennessean

Tootoo is -11 in the regular season. Pretty impressive for a guy who only sees 8 minutes a game. Frankly when the Preds play the Wings, Tootoo is such a defensive liability I would love to have him out on the ice as much as possible, except for the fear that he'd injure our players with cheapshots.
