I don't think Lids has played a bad game. That last goal was sort of a flukey change up pass. Other than that, I can think of a bad play he's made.

That first goal was questionable. I'd like to see a replay, but screened or not, he's gotta be at the top of his crease playing the angle. The shot was from the far side of the faceoff circle along the boards. That's not one that's usually gonna get by Dom. If the name on the back of the jersey were Osgood when that goal was scored, I bet you'd feel differently.

As for the last goal, I just thought it was a bad read by Dom. It came in so fast, there's no way he had a play on that puck behind the net, even without the odd bounce.

They couldn't rule that a goal, looks like it would've hit the post if the net were on its moorings. The guy leaving his feet made it seem intentional though. The good news is that was a great set play detroit had to beat the 1-4 trap. They're using their speed.

Okay, my thoughts here so far: I get sick of all the Lilja bashing, but good god. Coughing the puck up on the offensive blueline then taking a penalty. Taking a run at a guy (good) but that leading to a 3 on 1 (bad). Datsyuk looks lost out there. Coughing the puck up on a cutesy move at center ice. He's gotten knocked off the puck with a couple shoves. Not pursuing the puck when the Wings dump it in. Homer is busting ass as always. Calder looks great. Lang is a floater, but he's starting to use his size again and is hard to move off the puck. Hopefully that'll pay off in the playoffs again. NBC's lack of replays is driving me nuts. I'd like to see that first goal again. It was shot from a terrible angle. Unless it hit some bodies out front, Dom should've had that one. I rarely complain about reffing, but there's been some seriously questionable calls. Like the puck handling one on Dom, or what I'm guessing was a diving call on Homer. True. Versus definitely isn't a great channel at the moment, but it still has the potential. There is something to be said for hockey being the flagship sport on a channel, instead of it being an afterthought on ESPN, where if you're lucky they might show a Stanley Cup clip in between hourlong shows of baseball spring training.

sounds like another case of Bettman either being totally clueless or insulting the fans' intelligence with his bald-faced lies. Colorado rivalry??? Yeah, because how could Detroit possibly develop any rivalries against Original Six teams like Toronto? Detroit will stay in the west because it's one of the more popular franchises and needs to stay in a Conference that doesn't have as many popular teams.

I was even more disappointed that Simon didn't even apologize in the post game interviews. I think the closest he came was saying he was sorry he let his teammates down. Yeah, what about the guy whose head you tried to chop off? In general I agree with you about the no bad publicity thing. But I think incidents like this allow a lot of people to write hockey off as a marginal sport like ultimate fighting, instead of it being considered one of the big four. It makes it seem like an illegitimate sport because of the perception that it's just a bunch of guys skating around trying to brain one another.

There's one of Probie on youtube going at it with a young Scott Stevens, and STevens was mostly hanging on for dear life. Someone as tough as Stevens just trying to survive the fight should put in perspective just how scary it was to fight Bob.
