well for one thing, this ain't a democracy. It's not really about free speech. What happened in that thread, and what will likely happen tonight if Osgood doesn't get a shutout, goes well beyond criticizing a player or even venting a little frustration after a loss. The whole thread turned into a ridiculous bashfest by people who can't seem to handle a Wings loss, and apparently can't recognize any defensive lapses other than those by the goaltender (since the puck goes in the net, those are usually pretty obvious). But I don't want to drag yet another thread into debating about Ozzy, or debating about bashing Ozzy. Anyway, nice pics Mac. Hope you had a good time at the game, even if the Wings didn't win.

It sounded like the PReds fan was trying to say they booed Fischer, which isn't true at all. But I think there were a few boos when the game was cancelled. My main thing is, why do people go looking at the Pred site and get all worked up at what they see there? At least they direct most of their hate at us, where ours seems to be directed mostly at our own team.

Far be it from me to defend Preds fans, but wasn't there some booing when they announced the game was cancelled? I thought I remember a thread in here that people couldn't believe some fans actually booed.

Why waste time trolling that site for info to reinforce the idea that you think Preds fans are stupid? We've got an original six team here and one of the better fan forums I've seen, and it's still chock full of stupid if you read the right posts. We've had people here who hated Lidtsrom, hated Yzerman, thought Legace should've won the Vezina... and on and on.

I'm pretty sure he turned down a lot more money from the Ducks to go to the Avs, saying he thought he had the best chance at the Cup with Colorado. And I think this was the year right after the Ducks made it to the finals. Considering how Wings fans treat Fedorov, it's not surprising they still boo.

There are plenty of reasons to dislike Bettman, but actually it's a legtimate beef I have with him. Not so much each individual comment, but his general lack of respect for hockey fans that has become evident through his actions and comments over the years. Bettman continually insults our intelligence.

So has anyone mentioned, why was Floppa out? I'm guessing it's listed as some sort of undisclosed injury, but just curious.

He may not have major involvement, but ultimately he's the guy at the top and the one responsible for the on-ice product of the NHL. Like with the schedule vote among the owners. That was a business and a game-related decision. Bettman was either unwilling or incapable of swaying one vote to fix a schedule that is universally hated by all (except 11 cheap ass owners). Even worse, in his infuriating fashion, he lies to us fans with a straight face claiming no one could agree on a better alternative, when 19 owners had agreed on just that.

sometimes when a thread becomes so dense from all the idiocy going on in it, it implodes upon itself. It goes SuperStupid and can begin sucking in any intelligent thought from the surrounding threads, so as a precautionary measure, I'm guessing some mod saved us all by banishing it to a galaxy far far away.

Agreed. Especially since the West Coast is like kryptonite for the Wings.

It is a great game. These are two big, tough teams. I'm a little scared at how good the Ducks are at cycling the puck in the corner. Nice cheapshot by the PReds at the end of the period too. Nice to know they don't just save that crap for the Wings.

Doesn't Campbell answer to Bettman? As for Hullie as commissioner, I just don't think he'd have the... em, diplomacy required for the position. Hulls better when he's able to speak his mind. He was also one of the ones complaining in recent years about how ugly the game has gotten, how scoring was down, how there's too much clutching and grabbing, how the skill guys couldn't show their talent. A lot of people wrote him off, saying he's a lazy player that couldn't hack it. And Bettman kept up his standard ignore the obvious tactics "the game is fine. fans love it. We're as popular now as ever." Then as soon as there's a lockout they overhaul the whole thing to reduce clutching and grabbing. It would be nice if they'd consult guys like Hull once in a while...
