You do realize there is no way you could actually know Dom's feelings on the "ice-hos", don't you? Detroit has already had their version of slush-shovellettes. years ago when they would give away a car to try and get fans to come to games, they had two girls dressed pretty similarly as those in the picture who would escort fans out to center ice to play Score-O. I'm guessing they don't do that anymore.

I beat ya to it Nick. And I have noticed that when the Wings come up, he often mentions Pavel's lack of playoff production. Mwahahahahaha.... learn to type faster!
-
Unless we pick up at least one big guy who can chip in some postseason goals, I think Hasek is going to have to play out of his mind for the Wings to do well in the playoffs. Maybe I'm just overly pessimistic from the last few seasons, but I think the Wings will have a hard time scoring again.
-
And he's clearly a fan of Zetteberg's. Here's his response to a letter from a new fan asking what he should look for to enjoy the game more:
-
I don't think Hasek's play is a surprise. At least it shouldn't be. He was great last season up until his injury. It does seem like he would warrant some mention though, as so much of the Wings playoff hopes do hinge on him being in net.
-
Crosby needs to work on his mule-kick fake there on the shootout goal. It didn't look for a second like he was actually going to shoot it.
-
exactly. I figured it was just a ploy on his part to keep them from cleaning the shavings out of his crease. EDIT: wow. Am I the only one who thought sentence sounded kinda dirty?
-
I think it's 2.4 mill. and he has another year on his contract, so yes the Wings would have to pay it next year.
-
Feds didn't leave for more money.
-
I don't remember the exact circumstances, but I thought he took the big contract from Boston as a UFA and Detroit chose not to match it. I don't remember a whole lot of ill will. Besides, that was a very different team and coaching staff in 2001 than we have now.
-
I wouldn't mind Lapointe either, the problem is eating that salary for a year. But he's strong, tough, will drop the gloves, and probably good for 30 points a year. Maybe he'd even do better back in Detroit where there would be a lot fewer expectations placed on him.
-
I think Marty brings more to the table than Franzen, but still not worth the 2+ mill a year.
-
considering he effectively ended Moore's ability to play hockey at any level, it seems fair.
-
ultimately the fans are the ones who got screwed. At the time, the players were taking most of the blame, surprisingly. I think however that it should be shared between Bettman and Goodenow. Unfortunately one of them still has a job with the NHL, and likely will for a long time.
-
I'd be fine with it. I like Shanny, but hes not on the team anymore. Practically all the numbers used to be some previous player's. You move on. I still occasionally think it's Slava Kozlov when I see Datsyuk on the ice.
-
The only real reason I care about overall popularity is because it would be nice to occassionally see some highlights on t.v. and not have to subscribe to directv or get a relatively obscure channel like OLN (sorry, versus) to watch the games.

you just cited several players who have been responsible for some of the worst incidents hockey has seen. McSorley, Lemieux, Marchment, Bertuzzi. You consider the things those guys did normal hockey play? To me many of those players are responsible for the worst, most gutless cheapshots the game has seen. Incidents that have zero place in the sport. So yes, I consider things like skating up behind a guy and giving him a two-handed slash to the skull, or suckerpunching him in the back of the head, outside the bounds of normal play. I guess we're watching two different games.
-
Either way, I stand by my earlier decision. I don't want Bertuzzi on the Wings, and not because of the Moore incident. I just have a feeling he's going to be a playoff disappointment. Especially for what it will likely take to get him.
-
True. Bert kept saying (as other have said in similar incidents): "I didn't mean to hurt him." which is a lie. Of course he meant to hurt him. you don't skate up behind someone, punch them in the back of the head as hard as you can unless you inted to hurt them. The part everyone doesn't say is "that bad." He meant to hurt Moore, but not that bad.
-
What Bertuzzi did was outside the bounds of normal hockey play. we're not talking about a slapshot, or a legal hit. He skated up behind Moore and suckerpunched him in the back of the head. That is nowhere near the same as a slapshot or legal check.
-
Heatley wasn't drinking and driving. He was driving recklessly, but he was not drunk. His blood alcohol level was well below the legal limit.
-
It was also right before the new commissioner Gary Bettman started really implementing his ideas...
-
smchecnically? do they teach you that in law school? "Yes there's the DNA evidence, and my client being found holding the murder weapon, and his videotaped and signed confession. But I say to the jury, murder smchurder..."
-
you know, after thinking about it, I say no way. Not for Hudler, not for anybody. I'll make the bold prediction now that Bert is going to be a playoff bust. we'll see if I end up eating my words.
-
I'd be willing to part with Hoodlum, but it's a little sketchy doing it for Bert given his current health. We might be giving up Hudler for a bum steer. And Bert hasn't exactly lit it up in the playoffs in the past like he should've been either.
