    What would you do?...

That doesn't absolve you from responsibility. If you're going to post what looks like a tweet from Dreger's account that certainly looks true, it's still your responsibility to determine that it is before you post it. It would've taken 30 seconds to verify this tweet.

    Patrick Eaves on Waivers

Honestly I was a bit surprised. Eaves doesn't cost much and is a decent player. I thought someone might have grabbed him. I guess it shows how fans tend to overvalue players on their team, especially ones they like. He is very obviously referring to Cleary, as was the original post you quoted. So knock it off with the trolling.

    What would you do?...

It's not true. Don't post false/misleading tweets. It's pretty easy to go check Dreger's Twitter account. And posting it by screen capture makes it look awfully suspicious you did it yourself. It's not true. This. We don't need people trolling threads with posts like that. As I said, it's very simple to check Dreger's verified Twitter account. Future trolling posts like this will result in suspension or permaban.

    Patrick Eaves on Waivers

He may have been, but the original post he quoted they were obviously referring to Cleary being signed when there were already too many forwards (quoted again below).

Cleary in, Tatar out against Caps

The good news is with Ericsson back, Babcock split up the terrible pairing of Quincey and Kindl. Dekeyser will be with Quincey, and Kindl will be playing more protected minutes on the bottom pair with Lashoff. So hopefully the D will be more stable. Or at least less terrifying to watch.

I would venture to bet one of those three games you're including is the overtime loss against Tampa. Quincey turns the puck over behind the net, but Kindl was the one who inexplicably followed Quincey behind the net, leaving his man and the front of the net wide open for Purcell to bury the game winner. It took both of them to screw that one up completely. And you could just as easily argue that Kindl doesn't get PK time because the puck would end up in his own net so much. They've both been pretty awful. Together they're a nightmare. And the gap between them isn't nearly as big as you make it sound.

Agreed. It's mostly about who's in the crosshairs. And relative so Smith, Kindl has a lot more experience. As I said in a GDT, Quincey has screwed up plenty on his own, but some of his gaffes were due in part to Kindl's plays as his partner.

    Patrick Eaves on Waivers

If it is true it makes you wonder what the hell is going on with management now. This situation is stupid enough but to have a guy find out form the media that he's going on waivers? It's like the wheels are coming off.

It was such overpayment for Tootoo. I have no idea why Holland would give him 3 years at that price.

    Patrick Eaves on Waivers

I really hope that's not true. I've always like Eaves. The guy competes and has come through a lot to keep playing but now is paying the price for Holland's missteps. That being said, Holland should've never signed both him and Miller.

Actually I agree with you. Just making a bad joke. Holland's answers get very frustrating.

"It's complicated" sounds better than "I re-signed Cleary when we were already at the cap and roster limit. When we were headed into a lockout I gave Samuelsson a raise and a NTC on a 35+ contract. Oh and I also gave Tootoo too much money for too long of a term. Especially since my coach must have never really wanted him anyway since he didn't play him at all. I probably should've at least talked to him first."

    An honest question about Nyquist

The roster/cap crunch has really reached absurd proportions. Holland has really handcuffed this team.

What Did Pierre McGuire Want from Henrik Zetterberg?

"Henrik, do you ever have games where you just don't feel like giving it your all, like Johan Franzen?"
  16. haroldsnepsts

    Outs and Ins, Buffalo Style.

I didn't look to verify this actually happened but allegedly a few games ago Rolston benched his first line for the entire third period. I get trying to send a message, but then there's also making at least a half-hearted attempt to compete in the game. And that's not going to happen with the entire first line on the bench for a whole period.

Pierre: Can I run my fingers through your beard? Please?? (I wish I knew how to embed the gif above my post. It would really help the joke)

Typically the result is LGW melting down in goalie wars. Seriously though, even if Monster does outplay Jimmy, Howard is the #1 guy. So if anything it could be a good thing. It can give Howard a few games off to mentally rest and work with the goalie coach and tweak things if necessary without worrying about having to hurry back and carry the load. Plus Jimmy is competitive and will want to be the clear #1. If come playoff time (assuming the Wings make the playoffs) Monstar is still outplaying Howard it would have to be by a wide margin for him to get the nod. More likely Howard gets the job and he's on a short leash in the playoffs. Either way, the last time the Wings yanked the faltering goalie in the playoffs and went all in on the other one, it worked out pretty well for them.

    Blues sign Colaiacovo pending medical

St. Louis Blues ‏@StLouisBlues 24m BREAKING: The Blues have agreed to a one-year deal with former Blue Carlo Colaiacovo pending a medical. http://bit.ly/16ZjXeM I thought Cola was pretty solid for the Wings once he got healthy. Nice that he got picked up somewhere. And it still surprises me but did Ian White end up anywhere??

11/12 GDT : Jets 3 at Red Wings 2 (SO)

In the context of the other things he said it's not quite so bad. He can't keep trashing the team to the press every loss. It's not like he's saying this is acceptable. But he saw progress. I think the key is the section I bolded. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/11/jets_edge_red_wings_in_shootou.html I can somewhat see what he's saying. This team is hanging around these games but making key mistakes that lose them. They're not going to be a team that dominates with their talent level, but if they can improve enough to hang on and end up on the other side of more of these close games, then they're in pretty good shape.

It was a slash to the hands but that's an absolute garbage call after the no call on Datsyuk's play.

A hook straight across the midsection of Datsyuk on that chance, the guy's stick parallel to the ice. No call.
