He's played 66 games in the NHL. How good were Kindl, Ericsson, Quincey, or even Kronwall 66 games into their career? Smith unfortunately has to develop on an already inexperienced blueline. Those other guys (especially the first two) got to develop under a very solid defensive corps.

Weird that they're taking their sweet time with this one. I think Mcleod is going to miss a game before he's even suspended because he has a hearing pending.

I think those were basically the D pairings from last game. Dekeyser Ericsson looked surprisingly good given his relative inexperience. But the other two pairings are a little scary. I'm surprised people aren't talking more about just how good Dekeyser has been. The kid has played 21 total games in the NHL, and when Kronwall got injured last game, Dekeyser played more minutes than any other D man.

He wasn't off balance but I meant that there will probably be a similarity in how Shanahan views Kronwall's stop and turn. Kronwall put himself very low and it contributed to a more violent result but as Shanny mentions in the Lapierre video, that doesn't take away all responsibility from the hitter. If Lapierre didn't hit Boyle illegally, Boyle doesn't smash his face into the dasher even with the stumble. Same with the hit on Kronner. Kronwall may have put himself in a low position that resulted in his head hitting the dasher, but that still wouldn't have happened without the illegal hit from behind by Mcleod.
