McLeod suspended 5 games for hit on Kronwall
haroldsnepsts replied to SidAbelsSon's topic in General
Lapierre got 5 games for his hit. http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=60&id=462673&cmpid=nhl-twt When you listen to Shanny's explanation, you could almost swap it out for Mcleod's hit on Kronwall. The only real difference is that Lapierre was suspended before for a similar hit. If the league wants to be consistent at all (I know, I know), it seems like Mcleod will get fewer games. I'd guess three. -

Did nothing come of Tyutin's dirty slew foot on Bertuzzi? It should've been at least a fine. Given he has a bad back, Bert is very lucky he wasn't injured on that play. -
Are you basing that on last night's game where they were playing without their #1 D-man for most of it? Don't get me wrong the defense is young and a little shaky so far 8 games in, but right now the Wings are 5th in the league in GAA. If everyone is healthy this defense could be pretty solid by the end of the season. The real problems come if Ericsson or Kronwall get injured (like now). We'll learn a lot about this defense in the coming weeks until Kronwall is back.

McLeod suspended 5 games for hit on Kronwall

Honestly I'm a little surprised it was an in-person hearing. Kronwall was injured, so by the league's logic that will up the number of games. And it was a stupid hit from behind but McLeod isn't a repeat offender. It's not like it was a Raffi Torres special. He was also tossed from the game in the first period. My initial guess was going to be 2 or 3 games. But now with the in person hearing, not so sure. And Shanny has been heavier with the ban hammer so far this season. -
18 NHL seasons. 698 points. A Stanley Cup, Hart and Norris trophy. Gold in the Worlds, Jrs and Olympics. He led a very productive one on the ice.

Dekeyser played the most minutes among D men tonight with 25:54. Great game by the kid. Big E was next with 24 and change. -

Can you imagine if Mule played like this every night? Or even just most nights? Hitting guys, blocking shots. -

The Wings got pinned in their own end a lot but you have to remember they're playing with 5 D men. Those guys have to extend to pick up Kronwall's minutes as the #1 guy. -

Abby take that shot low and to the left side so a rebound might kick right to Mule. -

Just tuning in and saw the hit on Kronwall. Dumb hit by Mcleod but it didn't look intentionally dirty to me. The responsibility is still on Mcleod to make the clean hit so he should've pulled up, but I'm guessing he wasn't expecting Kronwall to cut that hard and stay that low. Hope Kronner's ok. How the hell was that not a penalty for holding Franzen's stick? And someone needs to pop Benoit for firing the puck after the whistle. -

No, I know. The defensive corps is looking pretty good right now. It's not that I think someone is playing bad enough to be taken out in Smith's place. I just hope he can get worked back in. Smith has the potential to be a better version of Quincey or Kindl, though it hasn't looked like it lately. But he needs to get back out there to ever find out. I could see him taking Lashoff's spot if he stumbles. Agreed. I haven't seen every game but the ones of Smith I did see, his problems didn't even seem so much bad decision making as he just looked bad on his skates. Like he was flailing around or something. Easily pushed around, off balance. It's strange. -
I honestly don't think he'd get a raise. He'll be another year older, that much more of a toll on his body. And he already came back to Detroit for less money because he wanted to stay here so badly. People aren't gonna like this (and I'm not crazy about it either) but if Cleary has a good season and wants to come back I don't think he'll get more money, I think he'll take longer term. Given Holland's past history, I think 3 years is a possibility. But Cleary would be a 35+ contract at that point. Maybe Kenny will learn from Sammy not to throw around 35+ contracts and NTC's anymore. Though it's an insult to Cleary to compare him to Sammy right now.
