It's hilarious that when so many Wings players have looked so bad this game, people are still focusing on Cleary. Franzen? Weiss? Smith? Samuelsson? Cleary has been decent. Which is probably why he's gotten promoted over other players that have been craptacular.

They haven't been setting the world on fire but I'm more concerned about the non-existent 2nd line. As much as I'm not a fan of Bert, Sammy, Emmerton, they've at least generated a few chances.

I missed the first period but from last game and what I've seen so far, the 2nd line is not really a 2nd line yet.

I totally forgot he played for Buffalo too. $4.5 million a year for the next four years. And that's just the cap hit. His actual salary the last two years was $6 million/yr. Not to mention the first two years a lot of it was in signing bonuses. So he got paid $4 million in bonuses last year alone, regardless of the shortened season. It still boggles the mind.

Not only does he lose his mind during the game, but then when asked about it later he calls Boudreau a liar and classless. What an idiot. On the NHL network they asked several coaches around the league about the incident. Most were laughing as they said it but were on Boudreau's side and a few said that's not what you do as an NHL coach.

As this discussion goes on I feel like Yzerman's comments are getting exaggerated, in this thread a little but even in the media. Unless he's made stronger comments I missed? Because the initial one he's saying something along the lines of what Babcock said. Pointing out the absurd situation the NHL is in right now. Punishing players severely for hits to the head but then allowing them to punch each other in the head. Regardless of if you want fighting in the game or not, I think people can realize that's an odd position for a league to defend. Khan even goes so far as to say Yzerman wants fighting eliminated from the game completely. Has he actually said anything like that?

To me this clip somewhat represents both sides of the argument. Getting knocked out cold in no way deterred Matt Cooke from cheapshotting guys. On the flipside, it is satisfying watching him get a beatdown like that. But it was no deterrent. Also, I'll pretty much use any excuse to post this clip because Cooke is such a dirtbag who shouldn't be in this league, even if he's "reformed."

He didn't even make it through his first regular season NHL game as a coach without completely losing his mind. Too funny. Maybe he'll surprise me but him coaching seems bad for the Avs.
