I'm guessing Bruce typed Haritgan but meant Helm.

Xenophobia but yeah, pretty much in the same realm.

When? He was finishing checks and hanging onto the puck behind the net, he never shied away contact and was still playing his usual minutes. Besides not putting up points Zetterberg was doing everything we should expect and without actual instances I'll just chalk it up to selective memory.
-
Yeah... and prior to his point streak he was "off" and it was "obvious" that he was injured then and he went on to have a nice point streak to end the season. Just curious, every time Zetterberg isn't on a point streak is he going to be injured? I just need to make sure. Lidstrom only had 3 points and was only a +2 in the Nashville series, are those post-concussion symptoms creeping back? He's fine, he's as close to 100% as any other player on the team, everyone is playing injured in some respect, Zetterberg led the team in shots in the first round but he hadn't scored since game 1 so he was obviously trying to do something different and it still wasn't working.
-
He always goes to his back hand in those situations. He was just trying to be too cute since the regular wristers weren't doing anything.

Another strange game in my opinion back and forth and a crazy 2nd period. - Lidstrom was a machine, like usual, great steady defense, like usual, and what a bomb from the point on the 2nd goal. - Holmstrom had his best game since January, he was everywhere, hitting people, forchecking and what a huge goal that was. - Datsyuk and Zetterberg again, that slap shot by Datsyuk was no mistake he knew exactly what he was doing they were both tenacious on defense. - Franzen had another extremely solid game, no points but his defense was suffocating. - Better game for Rafalski, 2 assists, good defense he's just going to get better he's too good. - McCarty had a great game, he only played a little bit but was physical and the goal was a bonus. - Drake had a good game too, few hits and that one big hit. - Samuelsson was strong again, had a bad shift on one PP but other than that solid. - Stuart and Kronwall were great, Kronwall with great vision, they're going to go in. Babcock knows exactly what he's doing with Stuart also, Samuelsson plays the point early but when it's crunch time Stuart is back there. - Hasek had a GREAT first period, that's why we won IMO, his 2nd had a few gaffes but he's Hasek, more times than not he'll shut it down. Bottom line, he was The Dominator. - Draper, again, was solid he's our most important face off guy. Hudler had another decent game, one mistake but he was in Nashville's face all game and had some good shifts. - Cleary, it's only a matter of time, he's very reliable. - Babcock managed the game very well, took a great timeout, some will say it was a no-brainer but whatever, he had the guys ready and got them regrouped. On to Nashville, game 3 should be crazy.
-
Except this year when he's at 40%. Hartigan is well over 50%, he's the better faceoff man.
-
None of them are centers, that's the major point you're missing.
-
He's 4th on the team in FO%, basically what you're saying is, you want a Drake, McCarty, Downey line, but since none of them are actually proficient in winning draws the only way around it is to start Draper or Datsyuk or Zetterberg on the line every single time they have to take a faceoff. Hartigan has speed and is good on the forecheck. If your line can't win faceoffs, they're not going to be on the ice, period.
-
Don't you guys understand how important winning faceoffs is in the playoffs? Hartigan is FOURTH on the team just behind Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Draper in that category. Dallas Drake has a 10% lower faceoff %. It's one thing to want Downey in the lineup, that's fine but over Hartigan so we handicap our 4th line? No thanks, may as well not even have a 4th line, it'd put too much strain on the other centers since they'd have to take all of the faceoffs for that line.
-
Good, we're a better team with Samuelsson in the lineup and the statistics back it up.
-
Only in the conference finals (Wings fans filled up 8,000 seats) and the finals, obviously.

Free, park at greek town and take the people mover. Ok I lied, it's $1. And right or wrong, if you're not going to games in the first place I think it's pretty lame to be complaining about this stuff anyway. This isn't directed at anyone, just a general statement.

Streit isn't really a defensemen, he plays forward 5 on 5 and defense for the PP. Even on the PK he plays as a forward, we really don't need another PP specialist on the back end.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/.....y_hel.html Homer is being re-united on the top line and the lines should at least start like this on Sunday: Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Filppula-Franzen-Cleary Drake-Hartigan-Downey Hudler-Helm-McCarty With the injuries, I like this better than slapping Holmstrom on the 4th line or something, it helps the depth down the middle at the moment and hopefully Franzen's hot streak doesn't completely hang on whether or not he's on the top line PP unit. Either way, I'd assume this is how Babcock will keep it going during home games in the playoffs, if this were a road game I think the lines would be different. - Also for people too lazy to read the article and are worried about no one sitting out, none of the players wanted to go an entire week without playing, I wouldn't either.
-
It's not just recently, he has 2 goals and 12 points in his last 44 games. As for the Downey thing, he's played well this season for his role, but his role is very rarely used in the playoffs especially deep into the playoffs. George Parros was benched in favor of Drew Miller, a guy who isn't even with their team this year. You HAVE to go with the people who can log more minutes and that the coach feels comfortable putting out there in the 3rd period. Downey isn't that guy in the regular season and he won't be in the post season, it's nothing against Downey, he knows that, he knows his role and he knows if he does get into the lineup his mintues will be down to around 2 in the game and all in the first period.
-
It sends the message that someone who is better at a different role is dressed over him.
-
Holmstrom and McCatry are in, Osgood was never going to start though, Hasek is in.

Because we don't have enough extra people.

No one, just spread the icetime around.

His 3m cap hit didn't kick in until this season.
