Huh? Hasek is getting more starts? When? Playing Hasek twice in a row when we have back-to-back games isn't playing him more. Hudler on the 4th line? For what? 2 weeks? Seemed to jump start him, Hudler hasn't been on the 4th line in a while. He also won't go back there either. Not giving Downey much playing time? 6 minutes for Downey is like 30 minutes for Lidstrom. Sitting Chelios on back-to-backs? God forbid Babcock doesn't feel the need to overwork Chelios, regardless of how much of a freak he is, during back-to-back games, that's the only time he sits him. Samuelsson is a scoring line forward, he's not a defensive forward, he's decent defensively, but that's not his role on this team.

None of those players are going to contribute in the playoffs? What is the problem exactly? What is adequate secondary scoring?

With how streaky Samuelsson is, it's important to do everything you can to continue the streak going. Like I said a week or two ago, when all hope is lost with Samuelsson, he goes on a tear and sucks everyone back in, the vaccum is turned on. If we can keep Filppula, Hudler, Samuelsson, Franzen and Cleary all going at their highest level, our secondary scoring issues are dead. The problem is Samuelsson is who he is a 1.2m forward who scores in bunches. In the playoffs early on he was useless, by the end he was producing like we needed other players to. You really need to take the good with the bad with him. As for the elite talent comment? I don't think so, but Babcock hasn't been wrong about a lot in his tenure.

Flames and Sharks? Not right now they're not. I'd be surprised if the Flames make the playoffs.

Lidstrom's deal will not impact Zetterberg's extension in any way shape or form. Even if Lidstrom signed a 10m/yr deal, Hank would still get signed. Lidstrom is going to make what he's worth, he's not going to break the bank, he'll sign a deal that keeps this team at the level that we are accustomed to. Can you think of a deal in the past when a Wings player received more than they were worth to the point that it ended up hurting the team? I can't, so stop worrying about it.

Back to back games, Osgood is playing against the better team. Relax. Pretty sad when that's the case, and it is.

People need to remember a few things 1) this is only his 2nd year as the #1 goaltender 2) he's 23 years old 3) Carolina is built around team defense and when one of their best defensive defensemen (Commodore) is out, it's going to hurt.

This has more to do with the team having zero confidence in John Grahame. Cam Ward, when the Canes don't have their game going, is the only player who actually gives them a chance most nights. Tonight when the score was 3-0 Ottawa, Cam Ward made 5-6 monsterous saves that kept Carolina in the game, their offense (2nd in the league) is extremely inconsistent. Cam Ward's confidence is fine, Carolina is a team that I heavily root for and I watch 95% of their games and they protect Cam Ward a lot. For the record, Cam Ward wasn't in for the 8-1 drubbing.

If Bettman stepped down nothing would change. The owners run this league, not Bettman.

Heh, this is the exact same thing that happened to Lilja after the playoffs. Rafalski had another solid defense game, but had one bad clear at the end of the game and the other 59 minutes are forgotten. Rafalski is fine and has really come on defensively as of late, don't let one play overshadow the entire body of work.

Hudler calls Osgood Oprah because last year Osgood used to make fun of Hudler because he looks like a penguin after practice when he's walking with his hockey pants on. Osgood also said that Hudler watches Oprah, I'm guessing the joke went a little bit deeper so Hudler calls Osgood Oprah because of it.
