Pretty sure in this situation break the bank means overpay in terms of trading assets. Shane Doan isn't coming over for a Forsberg package of last year, it'll be much, much more.

I'm one of the biggest Kronwall homers out there and I'd do this.
-
Your guys sponges don't work anymore.

He has 4 points in 5 games, the only other forward besides the big line with more than one point is Draper. Comparing him to the rest of the team, he's producing. A point is a point is a point. If there was any other forward showing signs of life that could take his spot, I'm all for it, but there isn't any.

You don't have to like him, but I expect that you'll actually understand that he's PRODUCING, he's SCORING and getting SCORING CHANCES, something NONE of our DEPTH is doing right NOW. I feel I needed to cap those words for emphasis. It's not like Cleary or Franzen or Filppula or Hudler is scoring making Samuelsson obsolete. I don't care how he does it as long as he's putting the puck in the net. He's been a + player since he's joined the team. I wanted him benched in favor of Hudler before the playoffs last year, reason being? Hudler was producing, and until these other offensive guys start producing, Samuelsson has a lot of value to this team.

Your expectations are too high, how many other players who make 1.2m do what you're expecting him to do? Samuelsson hustles, he gets his nose dirty. You just have a vendetta against him for some reason, I'm not exactly sure. He fills in adequately in the top 6, I guess I don't see all of these glaring turnovers, he's about right for the minutes he gets. Every player on this team has a ton of turnovers, just like every good player, the more you have the puck the more you have the chance to have giveaways. Samuelsson is a bargain for what he brings, the idea that a guy like Aaron Downey would bring more worth to the lineup than Samuelsson is strange, for a team who has virtually no offensive depth at this point, Samuelsson is a bright spot. It's not like there's guys banging on the door but Samuelsson is holding them back, no one is producing yet Samuelsson somehow was still finding the back of the net. He's not a great player, he's not even a good player, but considering the makeup of our team and the lack of offensive depth, Samuelsson is necessary until either Filppula, Hudler, Grigorenko or Franzen show that he's not needed.

You guys expect a lot from a guy who makes 1.2m and does his job accordingly.
-
This isn't the final year of his contract.
-
With that said, Samuelsson has had a good start to the season, his offense is still showing.
-
Downey hasn't fought or really done anything of note, good or bad. His line has looked decent but not really doing much.
-
I missed it, is Samuelsson injured?
-
What are you basing this on?
-
I appreciate what he's trying to do, I really and honestly truly do, I understnad he's trying to bring something that the Wings don't have but if he hadn't fought 3 times people wouldn't be nearly as high on him when you're looking at the brass tax.
-
Well, Babcock disagrees since he was benched last night due to poor play.
-
To be honest if Drake keeps playing like he's playing he needs to be benched quicker than Kopecky. Obviously Drake plays twice as much as Kopecky, but Kopecky at very least is on the + side where Drake has the worst +/- on the team. His fights mask the problem and that's what savvy veterens do when their skills are all but gone.

Like when? He usually picks his spots pretty well.

I am Steve Yzerman irl.

You need to take a closer look at Versus' programing.

Cullen and Hamilton, Staal is there sometimes, same with Stillman. When they won the cup they had Frank Kaberle taking shots but he still doesn't have his consistency back.

I was pretty surprised that no one on the Oilers did a thing after the 5th or 6th time Hemsky got run by one of the Wings. You would've thought Torres or Souray would've let someone know to cut it out, but no one cared. Strange!
-
Will he though? I don't remember him doing much hitting in the pre-season.

Much like te Calgary Flames then? To be honest, I don't see a huge difference between the Wings and the Flames in terms of styles, sure Calgary has a few guys who play more physical than the Wings, Phaneuf, Regher and Iginla, but in reality, I've seen games where they get pushed around these days. The worst thing Sutter did was getting rid of the character guys, the Flames tried to turn into a skill team and they're paying for it with a poor defense and the loss of their intimidation. The Flames give the illusion of being much tougher due to their borderline dirty play, they really don't have the right guys to wear other teams out anymore, but they have just enough guys to battle in the corners to give that illusion. They're a different team, but they have the mystique of the hard highting, always fighting, smash you in the mouth club that in reality has been long gone since 2004.
