Goalies know he has moves, so sometimes the best move is not making a move at all.

I'm like some people and I just bury my head in the sand, as long as I can watch every game and enjoy it I'm not all that concerned about it because I do my part and there's nothing else I can do. I go to my 15 games a year, I buy my Red Wings gear, getting in a tizzy about it isn't going to help anything. I can understand people being passionate about it and I don't fault them for it, but for my own personal enjoyment, I stay away from the leagues problems. The NHL isn't going anywhere, even with the problems, so I'm just going to watch the games, play my fantasy hockey and debate on the forums. Works for me.

Easy, Ernie McCracken because of his sweet comb over! displayimage.php.jpg

Good job, Matt.

http://www.dailystubs.com/ResultsTicket.aspx?evtid=640275 Some $20 tickets left. I'd go, but I'm sick and I already have my 20 game portion of the season tickets I'm apart of starting next Wednesday, so I know I'm doing my part.

How could the 2nd toughest team in the league be the worst team? It's impossible!

Why? Downey won't be playing. He made the team as the 13th/14th forward, the opening day lineup has already been set. It's nice to see guys like Downey and Ellis make the team, but they won't be playing that often.
-
Nope, I feel the same way about pretty much all of the expected contending teams in the NHL this year, the only safe pick would be Anaheim if Niedermayer and Selanne come back, if not, Pronger isn't leading them to the cup. Same goes with SJ, they'll need their defense to majorly step up and hope that Nabokov can carry the load with no safety net. There's no team clear cut above the rest this year and I don't see any other team as it stands being better than the Wings. Whenever you have a team who can score 3-4 goals a night while allowing under 18 shots, you have the formula to win a cup, whether it happens or not is another story.

According to www.redwingscorner.blogspot.com Meech is the 7th defensemen Ellis has made the team; moving his wife and daughter here soon. Downey has been offered a two-way deal which he will likely accept. Grigorenko has been assigned to Grand Rapids, not unexpected. Mark Hartigan has been placed on waivers with the intent of assigning him to GR.

Yep and he's a moron for saying it.
-
I agree, but Grigorenko was still jumped, not saying it was the wrong thing to do by Harrison, but throwing punches at a guy who wasn't even looking at you is the definition of it. It's really just splitting hairs, Grigorenko got what was coming to him, too bad he couldn't get his gloves off in time to respond.
-
Do you realize that if the major way to gauge how tough a team is is fighting totals the Phoenix Coyotees were the 2nd toughest team in the league last year?
-
He's definitely fair game, but Harrison isn't the guy that Grigorenko glove-punched.
-
Reminded me of the McCarty sucker punch on Lemieux, or the Jordan Tootoo special. Rabid punches ftw.
-
Don't think Grigorenko was ready for that.
-
Isn't that an automatic suspension for Newbury? Or do I not understand the tie-down rule?
-
I don't think that'll be a problem, with Datsyuk and Zetterberg both adding 15lbs of muscle last season I could see the Wings training staff getting Ryno up around 20 lbs.

I get the feeling you haven't looked at this roster since 2004.

There's nothing wrong with what he said, but his thinking is a bit flawed. Phsycially the Wings may not be "hard" to play against, but I'm pretty sure teams wouldn't say playing and winning games against the Red Wings is easy. It's difficult in a different way and it's working. This Red Wings team is a gritty, grind it out type of team the only thing it doesn't have is a bunch of fighting majors and more than a few borderline dirty hits. The Wings don't back down from physicallity, or at very least they didn't when it counted, they hung with the 3 "toughest" teams in the West, so saying that they don't have what it takes to the Win the cup is a bit of a fallacy, because if we're going by what's on paper, I guess Anaheim is the only real pick out of the West.

What I find interesting is that this is exactly the same team as last year and once again they're not "hard" to play against. So the question comes up again, were Todd Bertuzzi and Danny Markov the keys to the Red Wings success to the conference finals last season? Oh they weren't? Gotcha. I guess if you guys feel we lost to the Ducks last year because we weren't "physical" enough, Bucci is correct. The Wings cut the fat in the off season, plain and simple, we're a better team this year.
