whoa, huge overpayment, I thought you were going to say Havlat. And besides, whens the last time 2 of the favorites going into the playoff made a huge trade like this at the deadline? Hell, whens the last time a cup contender ever made a blockbuster deal at the deadline?

You must've quoted the wrong person.
-
effective, yes. but do you seriously want to hand over a #1 center to dish iginla the puck on a silver platter? that's all they're missing, it's why they've struggled this season. Our defense has been top notch all year long, Leopold won't help us AS MUCH AS Robert Lang would help the Flames.
-
Nope, playoff teams don't trade with other playoff teams in their same conference, especially when it involves players like Robert Lang. If you think about it, it makes no sense, the Flames missing piece is a #1 center and you want to give them one? What if we meet them in the playoffs? We don't need another defensemen as bad as they need a #1 center.

Two things: 1) You don't need to be a math major to find out a persons salary. 2) Then you shouldn't have posted something you don't care about in the first place.

McGrath or Grigs maybe, but even I doubt they'd go for those. I really don't think Gretzky is the type of coach who is going to do a firesale and start all over in his first few seasons.
-
He wasn't supposed to be in our top 4 this year.
-
Brees would be good to get the Lions on the right track, but he isn't going to get us anywhere in the playoffs. He's a regular season QB.
-
Until Legace does something in the playoffs he is not better than Giguere, regardless of inconsistent Giguere has been since his Conn Smythe winning season.

Europeans have no heart and don't care if they win as long as they have enough hair grease and can pad their stats. <insert sarcasm picture>

He violated the substance abuse policy for the 4th time. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2336760

I swear, it's only the Detroit Lions and the trade speculation where I become a downer, but I don't see the Wings trading Lang at all this season. I honestly feel that the chemistry factor will clog Holland's brain and he won't want to trade him. But I wouldn't be sad if I end up being wrong.
-
With Waddell guarnteeing the playoffs, I doubt they'd trade any of their starters.
-
We're not getting Witt, I'm 100% positive.
-
How long does Carney have left on his contract? Because I could see him just being a rent-a-player for the playoffs.

For when we play Shaq!

They'd want a top notch prospect for a guy like Doan, Williams and Hudler wouldn't really be interesting enough for them.

"How to make an NHL team" By Ryan Barnes IT HAD TO BE DONE.

I'm optimistic as hell with everything except the Lions, and I'm trying to locate the article about the Lions getting hype again and the PTI guys did their little odds game and had a 65% and 75% opinion that they'd make the playoffs. If they decide to resign, maybe. Holmes is the Lions best LB, and he isn't exactly a superstar, Lehman is nothing spectacular, what difference has he made? Bailey is always injured and Davis? What has he ever done? The only saving grace is the defensive line.
-
If it's true then oh well, they most likely overpaid anyway.
-
The media is already predicting the Lions to make the playoffs next season. I don't get it, I see zero reason to believe the Lions will "snap out of it" just because of a new coach and Mike Martz. No offensive line, no QB, an injury prone running back, a WR who can only make the circus catches and has shown to be incapable of making the easy routine plays, another WR who has a substance abuse problem who probably won't be back and LB's who would be 3rd string on most other teams.

The Pistons are going to be the #1 seed regardless, you're going to lose games you're not supposed to in the regular season and after the hot start stuff like this will look bigger than it should be. If the Pistons didn't start off so strong it wouldn't be as big of a deal.
