Is Babcock as good as we think he is?

You guys do know that Babcock hired McLellan and MacLean once he got hired here right? It's not like he's been with him since he started coaching in Anahiem. All we know about McLellan is that he coached the PP (which is better now) and the forwards. We have no idea what impact he had on the defense. The breakdowns have more to do with forwards playing less minutes, in new positions and with different linemates. If the Wings are still averaging 3 goals a game against at the All-Star break then yeah, we have a problem.
  3. Anyone else having the same problem?

    downey

Wanting Downey in is fine, but there's no way Pronger would've fought Downey. I don't think Pronger has fought anyone legit in like 10 years.

The NHL Should Change the Way it Shows its Games

NBC used different angles the entire playoffs, I couldn't wait until FSN started doing games again.

10/27 GDT: Red Wings 4, Kings 3 (SO)

Whoa, whoa. You're talking playoffs and we're not even 10 games into the season. The Wings are showing great resilience and the ability to dominate and roll out a lineup that other teams have no answers for. I think you're grossly underestimating the ability of this team and comparing it to the 2003 team definitely doesn't do this team justice. I also disagree with the notion that the Wings aren't showing enough effort, all the effort is there but there's just some mental lapses, these guys didn't forget how to play defense during the summer. We as Wings fans (and I'm sure we're not alone) have a disgusting tendency to overreact to small stretches or even portions of games and apply it to the team as if we don't expect them to correct the mistakes. I mean, if you guys think these lapses are going to manifest and never get better or actually get worse for the next 71 games I don't know what to tell you. It's a process and as long as the Wings are winning it really doesn't matter. Over the course of the season things will get fixed but poo-pooing 7-1-1 and 5 straight wins with 2 on the road against decent teams (and LA has been decent this year) is getting too nitpicky.

10/27 GDT: Red Wings 4, Kings 3 (SO)

I'm telling you BM with the Wings ability to turn it on and dominate the play like they are while not having Franzen or the defense like it was mid-season last year it's pretty scary for the rest of the league. 7-1-1 and 5 straight wins with Hossa and Datsyuk clicking and Z controlling whenever he has the puck. Yikes.

10/27 GDT: Red Wings 4, Kings 3 (SO)

At this point I don't think it matters. The defense will come around but with the way the Wings are playing offensively and how they can control the play and turn it on at any time there's no team close to the Wings.

All that matters is the average cap hit.

Hudler finished in that spot last game but I'm still assuming Cleary will at least start there with Hudler filling in.

    Leino with 2 goals tonight

Cleary will be moved up to the 2nd and Kopecky to the 3rd. The Grind Line will be re-united. Babcock said no one will be called up unless Franzen is placed on LTIR.
