Why would we call up Hartigan and waive Ellis though? It seems to me that Ellis brings more to the table than Hartigan.

I'm perfectly fine with the way Engblom acted, he did have a perfectly valid point. My problem is with the other guy wtf was his deal? He looked like he just looked completely stunned at Engblom like he just farted in church, and had nothing to add besides "you're scaring the hell me". WTF man? ...and for that matter wtf was Staios thinking with a slash like that?

It's kind of hard for me to believe this, because if Mats has been so persistent about not wanting to leave Toronto like the media has portrayed him to be, why would HE want a two year deal? He could obviously just go back to Toronto after the year is over. Also, $5mil seems a bit much....I would say $4mil would be fair.

Even though it's not going to take as much to get him this time, around the Thrashers had to give up Heatley and Greg DeVries to get Hossa...can we honestly match that? That fact is the first team to shell out what the Thrashers need, a playmaking center (or any sort of center), will probably be the one to land Hossa. That said I'm all for Lilja and a 4th for Hossa.

The Steve Yzerman award for best leader/captain.

I thought about it too, but is it really that unrealistic to say that he cant get his skating up to a level of....I don't know Aaron Downey. For the record though I don't see him in the Winged Wheel this year.

Did pronger just CLAW at Cleary? Ya, Pronger scratched Cleary in a fistfight. Way to go Felix...the p***y

I could understand the Leafs want of these guys for GM, but peoples' speculation of it actually happening is beyond irritating it's just.....PEOPLE NEED TO SHUT THE F*** UP! Maybe we should just start our own rumor and see what happens... ...So have you guys heard Felix Potvin is interested in the Toronto GM job? Wow, now they are talking about the leafs stealing away Hakan Andersson from us....OK GUYS. Instead of talking about the Leafs why can't they just say this.... "...and now for the next 5 minutes we bring you "Whole Lotta Love" enjoy..."
-
Wow hell no. The Leafs should feel lucky enough to even get Lilja from us. Even he would do better than half their defensemen, and it's not like hes playing with Lids here all the time.
-
When Yzerman retired that was a huge void for the orginaztion, and well, what I think I am trying to say is......I am glad we have Zetterberg now.
-
That first goal pretty much sums up how much the Russian 5 kicked ass...

This isn't Manny Legace we are talking about here. Ozzy is more than capable than shaking off some bad goals. Maybe he won't be as hot as he has been all year, but I for one still expect him to be at least top 10-15 in the main goalie stats throughout the year. If Ozzie would have kept that pace up all year he would of been at a Vezina/Hart trophy level, and we all know that just wasn't going to happen.
-
Richter&Vanbiesbrouck was a pretty good one..I'd say Belfour&Hasek, but Hasek kind of sucked than. We do have a great tandem in net right now though thankfully.
-
I just want to see Zetterberg and Ozzie lift the cup... For the record no though, I dont think they will, even though it is not yet out of reach.

Im cool with those lines, I have always thought of Filppula to be like the B version of Zetts and Hudler to be like a B version of Dats, and Cleary is just sweet so I could see those lines working. If Sammy has to be on the top two lines he really should be with Holmstrom, so we know someone will be in front of the net when he shoots. If it comes two it I always thought Hudler worked well with Draper-Maltby, when he was with them they were good at getting him the puck, and he just gives that line SOME scoring potential. Other than your lines I think these lines might work.... Datsyuk-Zetter-Hudler Cleary-Filppula-Holmstrom
-
I think Cleary is just like that one dude from Beerfest, where he got a black eye from the Germans , and he told his friend he wanted to keep the black eye year round as a motivator. I'm 100% positive that's the situation here.
-
The league definatly has more parity than ever it seems...except the Red Wings, who are just sweet. I really like how our team is looking guys who we really needed to step it up are, like Filppula, Hudler, and Kronwall. Now even Franzen is showing signs of life. I just hope everybody can remain healthy.
-
Oh yea, there is no way we'd get two of those three, but i am sure it wouldn't take much to get Bergeron even though he isn't REALLY what we need, and hes kind of a smaller guy he would fit really well into our system. Bergeron would be a great replacement if Kronwall does get hurt though, or Lilja's game goes to s***.
-
Oh no, it was Kornheiser that's just what got me in the first place the fact that they bothe openly enjoyed a hockey game.
-
We should call NYI and ask about Hunter, Comrie and Witt. Witt just because hes the badass we need in the back, although he is going nowhere. Hunter can be clutch, and would be a good fit here.

Downey WTF was that man?

Did anyone see Pardon the Interruption today on ESPN? I usually don't care what they say about...well pretty much anything, but it is hard to turn away when they are complementing the game. Anyways, both of the guys on there were pretty much glowing about the outdoor game, and Wilbon went even as far to say he thought it was more exciting than any bowl game, even the Michigan Florida game.

Thanks for that recap Crymson, it was fun to read. Just from seeing the game on TV tonight I would have said the same about Filppula and Kronner. It also amazes me how well Filppula can TAKE a hit for some one his size. It seems to me he doesn't get knocked of the puck too easily. Also I always thought the same thing about Lebda, I was at a game last year when he went end to end against the Kings late in the third period, and tied it up. It was one of the coolest things I have seen.
