Thanks for digging that up, that's pretty much exactly what I wanted to know.

I could be completely mistaken, but I thought there was some kind of limitation on how low/high a player's contract can be from year to year? What I mean is sence a player's "cap number" is the average salary over the entire contract, I thought a player was not allowed to have his salaries a certain amount apart? An example of what I mean is Alfredsson's contract is 9.100 7.000 4.500 1.000, and his cap number being 4.140. Haven't there been contracts denied by the NHL in cases like this (I think it was Erat who had a contract denied but I'm not sure), because obviously with a 1.000 year thrown in that brings the average way down. What would stop Holland from doing something SIMILAR to this giving Z or Hossa a couple years with 9mil and a few with something around 4 or 5 mil? Also Lecavalier's is the the same way too 10.000 10.000 10.000 10.000 10.000 10.000 10.000 8.500 4.000 1.500 1.000= cap number of 6.875

The last three years have been, come watch Sidney Crosby, and rest of the guys in teh NHL. Wouldn't it actually be better for the NHL if it was some thing like, come watch the NHL and ALL of its stars.

The more I think about it the more it seems like one of the deciding factors in choosing Meech over Quincey may be the fact that Meech can be dressed as the 13th forward too when Chelios is heathy and taking the 7th Dman spot.

I don't mind numbers on the front as long as it's not tacky. It helps you see what player it is just a little easier. I'm really against BOLTS right on the front though, plus these jerseys remind me of the friggin Lions.

Hossa plays on the RW though. I'm just afraid we aren't gettign a whole lot from the Sammy/Kronner combo. Neither of those guys have much of a shot, getting Rafalski out there could change some things. Like you said though that just really won't happen though, just something fun to think about. Here's a fun factoid I just learned from HockeyDB: Hossa, Cleary, and Lilja all played on the same Swedish team during the lockout.

He'd be a good fit for the Pens, but it might be a little harder for them to shell out for another player at the trade deadline.

I think it is safe to say that odds are at least one will be back, if not both. I can't see too many other teams offering McCarty a better conract, or that much more playing time.

We just went up at 7 and they were passing out tickets for the cup arrival, which is at 8:30. I didn't hear if any players were going to be there or not.
