Detroit is definately not the destination it was 5 years ago. Parody, a smaller collection of high end tallent & not value on the back end. The players & their agents no longer seek out Kenny Holand. That's why nothing has happened.

Shero to the NHL is what Holland used to be to the NHL. Those days are looooooong gone.

Can't sell off until the new GM is in place. I hope Jimmy D & Mr. I face the truth and just accept that Holland has jumped the shark & that he has done absolutely nothing for three years that made this team more competative. I really like JT but our d is so bad it is beyond one or two tweaks. Pluss the wings move to the east. Holland blows!
-
This thread is rediculous! Babcock is what is keeping this team as competative as they are. THIS is what happens when Big E is one of your top pairing D Men & Big E & Quincy together consume 7 million. Is Holland the right GM going forward? That is the question Devilano & Mr. I better be asking. He had years to plan for this & he DID NOT! This is what happens when your forwarwards have to play D & don't have the benefit of of being committed forwards.

I am unfamiliar with his skill set. Would he be worth working a deal with Anaheim, just incase his trade is struck down? It sounds like there is a chance that the trade is in violation of his agreement. Just a bonus to get the guy Snow wants after he claimed a golie heading to Detroit.

Kenny prefers to pay these type of players 3 mil + a year. Kenny probably never thought he would go for a million.

I you haven't seen all of the two handers directed at Z's back you must be.................. Stevie Wonder.

IMy vote would be to trade Fil & then pick up Arnott.

It will be revieled long before the post season. Dats, Z & Kronwall won't be able to do it on their own & unless they can find a way to address the D Howard is in for a rough season. Look me up in December, if I am wrong I will be happy & will send you a gift card to buy lunch.

I agree & wish somebody would interview Holland about this. With all of the repetition of "non-news" why has no single reporter done this. Not Kevin Allen, not Anser Khan, NOBODY. It's the now media, it's all PR & no news. What's black & white and read all over? Nothing because news is dead, and soon people will realize that content is dead EVERYWHERE. Where is Kenny Holland responding to the concerns of Mike Illitch's customers. I would be embarased if I were a "reporter" these days. I would rather be called a CPA or ambulance chacing attourney. At least they bring value.

The problem is he is hurt too often & is too fragile & or small to play a physical game. I am not happy to think this as I believe he triries very hard to make Detroit tough to play against. I argue he might not be effective enough to be on an an elite teams roster. Lucky for Danny Detroit while good are no longer elite. They are on par with Calgary. Our Current Defense / What Holland Can Do *merged
pondrocket replied to datterberg1340's topic in General
Get a couple decent veterans to minimize the damage of Erikson & Quincy. There is nothing else he can do. That being said he will have to improve our forward ranks. If we give up more goals we will have to score more goals. Right now D is sub par, Our O is probably average. One of those will have to ofset the other. IMO anyway. Can't wait to see the Russians together again!!! -
Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?
pondrocket replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
I thinkk less people would be complaining if Holland had attempted to address team needs for the last three years. He thought Nick was coming back & was caught with his pants down. Who's head is in the sand? Howard will be lit up this year. We are not uniquely strong on D & we don't have the O to hang onto the puck like we used to. We don't suck. We are on par with Calgary. Are they good? -
Yep, he was great to watch! Those were special days!!

Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?
pondrocket replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
Completely disagree! While Detroit is a tragic mess the rest of the region has some realy nice cities and a collection of great places to live as a single person or raise a family. The problem is that we don't have a collection of tallent that other players really want to play with. Kronner, Pav & Hsnk are not enough. -
Anybody heard anything regarding Yandle?
-
I think you are right. I don't think Kenny would extend an offer to a RFA. He hasn't had to in the past. He has had lots of assets & assets wanted to come here. We aren't stacked enough to be attractive in the same way. It's a new day for Kenny Holland. He better strike a new ballance between being respectful of other GM's & improving his team. If Kenny Holland was viewed as a rock star today he should be seen as Pat Boone. Who wants to go see Pat Boone? Nobody! Hell, how many people even know who he is?

While Pav, Hank & Kronner are great, Detroit simply does not have the collection of skilled assets that other players drool over playing with. The cap has made it difficult, but Kenny's philosophy has made it tougher. He has waited three years too long to address his team's needs. Now we are almost the new Calgary Flames. I hope Jimmy D & Mr. I don't take three years to address the GM issies. -
Since we are going to be forced to get a couple second or third tier D man, it could salvage the off season if we were to pick ot a top six sniper. That way our focus could be on Top D at trade deadline or next year?

The way I see it Nash has three choices. 1. Patch it up & stay with the BJ's. 2. Just wait for the deal Howson makes, 3. Nash & his agent can make sure that every other agent, owner and player see's why he thinks Howson is being unreasonable and reckless with the assets he is charged with & give every player and every owner a clear set of reasons wht Howson is incompetant and shouldn't be trusted by other players, owners or agents. Anything I could do to minimize his opportunity to get another GM job. I would do 3, even though Howson is doing a good job of shooting himself in the foot on his own. At least he wayyyyyy overpayed for Wiznewski.

Cheers to that!

Why is this not done?!

Babs will evaluate the team & the direction Kenny is going & decide. Who knows what he will or should do until the criteria is evaluated for that moment?

Flyers sign Weber to offer sheet: 14y/$110m ($56m 1st 4yrs)
pondrocket replied to a topic in General
I think that was a very cunning salary structure to include in the offer. It's not new, remember when Carolina tried to get Sergi? I wish the Wings were as creative at the appropriate times.- 469 replies
