2010 Winter Olympics - Quarterfinals
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to redwings8831's topic in General
Pavs has had a rough tournament, he hasn't gelled with Ovechkin or Kovalchuk. I don't know, it seems like having a pure sniper with Datsyuk doesn't really work, even when Hossa was here and scored 40 goals then didn't seem to really click well together, not even close to what he and Hank had when they were great. -

This game is over. Powerful showing from Canada. And Nabby is getting the Patrick Roy treatment it seems... -

Well, they've got the right coach, but I think the rest of the team is a little bit better than the usual choke artists. -

I'm going to hazard a guess that these are some recently departed, good friends of ours. In any event, Canada's intensity is way higher than Russia's right now. -

I'm not sure if I like what you're suggesting there, mister. -

NBC camera angle was pretty definitive, puck was still on the line at all zeroes, no goal. -

This game is killing me. Hiller does nothing but bring me anguish, no matter the uniform, I wish he would go away. -

Well, they do have to play tomorrow. As neato as it would be for USA in this particular situation to benefit from a quintuple overtime game, brevity is a virtue in such a compacted tournament. -
I sure hope so, we're all already at one another's throats over what side of the 49th parallel you were born on, I'd hate to see all that ill-will channeled onto the Wings if they keep losing.

He might've been a bit winded since this was on the heels of him literally running out of breath calling the frantic action in USA's end late in the game. Great call, great goal, great moment. Michigan delivered in this game.
-
I will vote for Ryan Miller in every election.
-
That bracket is a beautiful thing. Very likely only the Czechs/Finns stand in USA's way of getting to the gold medal game.

2010 Winter Olympics - Sweden vs Finland (Group C)

I haven't been very impressed by Hank so far in these Olympics; he seems slow and lacking any creativity offensively, just like he was since he came back from the shoulder problem. He's been the go-to guy for defensive match ups and the PK so that obviously hasn't changed for him, but while Sweden might not need him to score much, Detroit will when he returns. Franzen has been great though, bulling his way to the net and letting that wicked wrister fly, just as I had hoped. -

Well, I don't much like the sound of that. O, how my allegiances are torn thus. -
Should've been the Cup-winning goal, would have been perfect. Oh well, he delivered in the next game, too.
-
Wouldn't it just be the damnedest thing if he did all of that while he was wearing red and white? But I can't complain. Go for gold, chrome dome!

My ******* god, what an incredible finish. I couldn't breathe for that full minute Canada had the puck in USA's zone and were just firing shot after shot. Kesler's diving ENG was a beauty. Rafalski is a beauty. Ryan Miller is the new president of the United States. What a game. This is what hockey's all about. -

The article says it's airing delayed on NBC, which is correct, even though it should be the marquee matchup to be shown on the big network. It's not being shown on delay on MSNBC.
