Washed up Sergei Fedorov centering top line for Olympics..
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to bconnan's topic in General
It's probably because they already had enough playmaking centers, and he just ended up being the odd man out. -
Lebda and Ericsson, or Lebda and anyone, has been such a disaster as the third pairing; they've been on the ice for tons of goals proportional to their ice time, nearly as much Lidstrom despite playing hundreds of fewer minutes against weaker opposition. Getting a steady, responsible, stay at home defenseman in there really is enormous. Fingers crossed that everything goes according to plan.

1/26 GDT: Coyotes 5 at Red Wings 4 (OT)
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
It certainly would behoove them to start picking up some Ws, but the good news is that the Flames, who are competing with the Wings for that 8th spot at the moment, lost tonight, and are probably one of the only teams in hockey sucking worse than the Wings have recently. As long as they do something, anything, there's a good chance they won't be on the outside looking in. -
Right now they need someone to rack up a few more points, even if he's not giving the effort of less talented players. That's not ideal, but that's where the Wings are right now. Scoring 2 goals a game just doesn't cut it.
-
It's from a wonderful alternate reality, where dreams grow on trees and the Red Wings aren't actively trying to destroy the hopes of their fans.
-
Mickey must have had one too many ginger ales.
-
There was a guy up in the rafters, I guess he was threatening to jump? I'm not sure, but someone was up there, so they cleared out the section in case he fell.
-
Early on he had trouble getting his legs going but his hands still seemed to be working, now none of his body parts are doing their job.

Move over Detroit vs Colorado, Z&D vs gcom wants to be the big rivalry on campus.
-
He started off the year okay, but he's been just plain ordinary since he came back from the shoulder problem. I don't know if they rushed him back from that, but he has looked indistinguishable from, say, Dan Cleary since then, and that's not a compliment to someone of his caliber.

Who would do better with Datsyuk's ice time
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Z and D for the C's topic in General
I'd say the trouble is he didn't do enough to help win it. Although Hank looks like he's dragging ass big time while Pavel at least has some jump in his skates, not that much comes of it. Still, cutting the ice time of your best player doesn't really sound like a good way to get him out a funk. -
Lebda-Ericsson is a disaster, directly led to two goals, something has got to be done about that. Pavel seems to be playing okay but can't produce, and Hank has looked like a third liner since he came back. Something has to get these guys going.
-
Actually pretty low, 21st after tonight. Hasn't been a problem all year, but the last 5 games they've blown leads in the 3rd like no other.
-
The Wings shouldn't even bother to play third periods anymore, they are just laughably bad.
-
And the Wings blow a 2 goal lead, shocking.
-
No goal. Nice play Stuie.
-
Was just about to say. That whole column is barren.
-
My guess is they'd waive May and one of Lebda/Meech.
-
Wait what, Lilja?!
-
I know someone who's not getting into the shootout rotation now.
-
Not particularly surprising. Kings have carried the play since faceoff in this period.
-
Wings are getting dominated here, they need a good shift.
-
The deadly Ericsson-Howard combo.
-
Wouldn't it just be the damndest thing if they got a couple more in the next period, didn't have any crazy meltdowns, and we had ourselves a nice, quiet, drama-free evening?
-
Drew Miller saves the day. Crazy bounce to start that ugly sequence.
