Whenever this happens, the Wings always get scored on the first shot or something obnoxious like that. Get a goal, dudes.

The Wings aren't going back to Detroit tomorrow, they're going to Minnesota next, so he wouldn't be coming along for that.

Even if he were any good, the Wings already have too many players to fit their available roster space once they get healthy. They can't take on anybody without needing to waive/trade players.

Why not? He played for the franchise that drafted him for many years, they more or less got rid of him (not without good reason, but it was not of his doing), and at the first opportunity he got he returned to Detroit and has faithfully served the Winged Wheel ever since, as a starter or back-up. He's been a little lippy this season, and I think it would be behoove him not to try and get any further into the coach's doghouse, but that's neither here nor there. The guy has dedicated virtually his entire adult life to the Detroit Red Wings.

Just speculation. Maybe there was something more substantive on it but that was a few years ago so I don't remember. But look at it this way: he played for two years with Torts, left and played one year in Anaheim, but then went back to Tampa for three more years. Torts got fired, he only played one season under Melrose/Tocchet, then went to Torts' new place at New York. Seems like that's who he wants to play for.

Hank isn't really very good at shootouts, I wouldn't mind Mike trying out some other guys (Eaves comes to mind) in his spot for the time being. Bert and Pavs are both pros at it, and once Willy comes back I think that ought to be the Wings' top 3 and bump Hank out of the starting rotation.

It has been speculated that Prospal didn't get along with Babcock in Anaheim, whereas he's always enjoyed playing for John Tortorella in Tampa and so the move to New York was a no-brainer.

They have been on the verge of getting into that 8th slot a thousand times this season but can never seem to win that one game that will put them over the top. Oh well, doesn't have to be today -- as long as it happens by April.

Hank has never been good in shootouts, I wouldn't be against Mike trying someone like Eaves or some other random guy in there. But the Wings really ought to be better in shootouts because Datsyuk and Bertuzzi are both good shooters. They just can't seem to put it together in a shootout, annoying.
