Eh, LA's goal was fluky too. That thing was bouncing like an Indian rubber ball, off the boards, over Stuart's stick, knuckle balled past Howard's glove and finally off the shaft of Smyth's stick. Okay, I'll admit the Wings still may have been a tad luckier for the balance of the game though.

The Wings are in for a long night if they continue to bring the effort they brought against the Ducks and Kings to the Shark tank. I don't know what this little mini-funk is but they need to work it out to give themselves a chance Saturday.

Oh come the f*** on.

Pretty soon - Who are the THREE odd men out?

The roster limit is abolished after the trade deadline, March 3rd. That's just two games after returning from the Olympic break, and it would be much easier to just try and get under the cap with everyone healthy than try to get under the roster limit. Maybe keep Franzen hanging for a couple extra days? Not having to waive anyone not waiver-exempt would be a nice bonus. -
I probably should have quoted Outsider because that's who I was directing the post to. I don't have much to say about this in particular, and I didn't mean to derail the thread to talk about Hasek, I was just annoyed at your original post there, which you've validated in your own way, so carry on everybody.

Two NHL worthy lines? Glorious.

Niedermayer's OT goal was through a screen. He just floated a stupid little wrister at the net, 99 times out of 100 that hits something, or goes wide. Because they were the Ducks it picked the corner. And Dom was just being Dom on Lilja's loopy disaster, I'm not gonna hold it against him, he made a living out of that. I don't know how it is you remember each and every goal from each game but I sure don't, only the ones that tore my heart out. You sound like you're being pretty nit-picky though, it's easy to make the goalie the bad guy even though 2-3 goals are going to go in most games no matter what. I don't ever remember being upset at his performance in that series or those playoffs -- obviously quite the opposite as I've already expressed.
-
You're gonna get nitpicked for this one: Hasek was fine in '07. The Wings were the victims of the most absurd misfortune imaginable and the thought of there being any justice in this universe was obliterated, but Hasek was not deserving of any blame.

I have no idea what makes you so sure considering that he had the three of them split already, in this very season (remember, Leino-Flip-Willy?), and with a full 40 games remaining in the year I would be very surprised if the trio of centers in question don't end up playing a lot of different roles on different lines.
-
He might start Hank and Pavel together and have Flip centering the second line and I'm okay with that, but you don't know Mike if you don't think he won't split them and have them all centering three separate lines as soon as he starts seeing things he doesn't like.

Watch your ass NHL, s*** just got real.

In an absolute sense Janik's nothing to write home about, but relatively speaking he's done a very good job and I'm happy he's on the team.

Does anyone else not care when we get a PP anymore?

The Wings started off doing well on the power play and they were near the top for a while, but the last 10+ games (I lose count of the days in this insufferable drought) they're operating at like a 5% clip. -
If the Wings had anyone playing at Kovalchuk's level (paging Mr. Datsyuk) they'd be doing great with whoever was on his line too.
-
Game was over anyways. I think we can forgive Lebda if he doesn't agree with most of LGW that he'd contribute more if he were on IR with a broken face.
-
All of the teams that were at 51 points have predictably won today or yesterday. The Wings are losing ground.
-
Ryan hit the deck like a ***** rather than take his beating like a man. Not much consolation for losing the game and missing 2 needed points, though.
-
Well, s***.
-
Finally!
-
The only entertaining thing that's come out tonight's game and it gets pruned, what a world.
-
How in the world...?
-
One of those games where the puck does everything but go in the net...

This might the worst period they've played all year. What the hell are they doing?
