For all the good that's done them (or, say, the Hawks last night). At least they're playing some tough hockey tonight. -

Lidstrom misses the net, ho-hum. -
He'll probably score and get the last laugh anyways.

Yeah, Flip's no sniper, but he's about ten bazillion times better than Abdelkader up the middle. The Wings will actually be able to put something resembling a hockey team together (with two skilled playmaking centers!!) once he's back in the line up.

Getting outshot 23-7, this game isn't even close. Hawks have hit posts and Nabby's been great, and the Sharks have just managed to take advantage of a couple opportunities. Sound like a familiar scenario?

Haha, wow, did my post seriously get nuked? That was the most clever thing I did today! How disappointing. Let me humor you guys, then: Although I would hate to see this happen, ads are invading more and more of the game all the time. Remember those images they zapped onto the glass at Rangers games? How long until you think that's the norm across the league? On the one hand perhaps the sanctity of the uniform will never be tarnished in American sport, but on the other it seems like it's only a matter of time before everything is plastered with logos in pursuit of the almighty dollar.

Ideal Winners of the Night (Non-Red Wings Games)

Yeah, as all Western Conference games are, by rule, required to. -

Man, that Nucks-Preds game feels like a lose-lose. Guess it's better for the Preds to keep pulling away than the Wings get bumped from their playoff spot, though. -
It's been like this for as long as I can remember. In a time before time they might send their biggest nastiness goon out to seek justice, but that kind of thing is much more controlled now. But this kind of reaction to a hit is certainly nothing new.

Not to mention GWG is a meaningless stat and Hudler wouldn't have any SHG since he never played on the PK -- guys like Ovechkin, Crosby, and Kovalchuk are pretty low in that department as well, so who cares? The guy could produce, that's why he was a valuable part of the team for two years.

^^^ The gauntlet has been thrown!

Shane Doan? Pffft. Everybody knows the real secret to the Coyotes' success: Enjoy riding the coattails of one of the all-time greats while you can, Shane.
-
Awesome, that's priceless.

I was expecting him to be in the range of 20 goals/50 points so he's definitely on pace for success. But his role has been expanded hugely from dude that can chip in to the Wings' #1 winger and he's risen to the occasion, for which he is deserving of praise.

Well, it's technically news. One 4th line jobber for another. World keeps on spinnin'.

Have you lost confidence in certain players?

Being brilliant in third doesn't help when you give up two bad goals in the first two periods. When a goalie lets in two softies, his team is probably going to lose the game. In this instance it didn't really matter because the Wings did nothing on offense as you pointed out, but all that means is there's more blame to go around. Nobody had a very good night, Oz certainly included. -

Howard didn't exactly have a world class game last night, either. Although certainly Byfuglien's tally was not an NHL-caliber goal by any means, the other goals didn't seem any worse than Skratins's game-winner. -
Absolutely not.
-
It's pretty obnoxious following scoreboards and seeing every team from the West getting points every single night. It feels like the teams above the Wings right now never lose; and even when the Wings went on a nice run and won a lot of games for a stretch they barely moved up in the standings because everybody is just winning constantly.

I can't say I don't have confidence in Lidstrom, he's been excellent on defense and the PK, but he's been very disappointing for me this season. Perhaps there's something else going on or maybe the decline was really just this steep, but he's the main man on the power play, and he's done absolutely nothing there all season. The PP's been a huge weakness since Kronwall got hurt, and with all these injuries we need it to be an equalizer for us and it hasn't been. -
Perhaps with good reason.
