DAMN SON, DO WORK -
Close to 20 between the two of them. I think we'd be doing better than with Leino and Bert (despite the nice game he had last night), but that wasn't my original contention, if we go way back -- that the two were excellent role players that delivered in key moments and that certainly can't be overlooked.

Two games in a row Homer gets a call? Inconceivable! -
Hudler also had a GWG and a goal in Game 7 after that hit versus the Ducks, that to go along with his GWG in the Finals the previous year in that critical Game 4. Sammy less of a factor after his OT goal but let's not forget his tour de force in Game 1 of the Finals the year before. Life goes on without them, but for role players they certainly made their marks and contributed heavily to the Wings' success the last two playoff years.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Sammy and Hudler in particular scored a lot of big goals for the Wings in both Cup Finals runs.

He continues to do a great job night in and night out. He gave up a bad one tonight, but so has every goalie in the history of time, and the important thing was he bounced back and didn't give the Ducks another chance for the rest of the game. He hasn't made a habit of letting in softies either; surprisingly sturdy and reliable for a rookie that's giving his team a chance to win. Can't ask for any more than that. -
Bert has a bad back, and obviously Leino is struggling as a rookie, so I'm not sure how good one can expect them to be. You said it yourself, Pavel, Nick, Rafalski, these are the guys that have to get going. They aren't making close to a combined $20M to have only 45 points between them at this juncture of the season, I know that.
