Heh, I hate to harp on the guy but this is pretty much true. He basically sabotaged that 5 on 3.

They needed to bury some of those first period chances. Very frustrating when the team can't seem to finish some nights.

I guess the good news is that this no-goal has stirred up a huge s***storm in the hockey community. I somehow doubt the NHL has got the guts to make the necessary changes right away but if there's enough widespread outrage it might get the ball rolling.

Eh, it's been a bit feast or famine for the Wings in the late going, but some nights you win big and other nights you have to win close, low-scoring games. The Wings did enough to probably get a point out of this one and got jobbed. There's reason to be upset, probably more for us than them, as I assume they're already looking ahead to tomorrow night.

The funny thing is, I don't see what any ref has got to embarrassed about by missing a goal like that. The puck didn't zip into the back of the net, it had looked like it was frozen. The game and the puck move quickly and there's lots of stuff in the way; that's the reason we've got replay to help us out. How it is that that failed us in this situation, I can't fathom.

I'm fine with the intent to blow the whistle rule, if a goalie freezes the puck (legitimately, not try to fall on it and miss Hiller style ) and there should be a whistle and some guy pokes it away and scores before the ref can make the call, okay. But this is not like that at all. May shot the puck directly straight into the net. The ref just didn't see it, but clearly could have during the review. Unless he intended to blow his whistle as May shot the puck, or it was in flight towards the net, there's no way he can logically make the call. He's seriously just lying if he intended to blow the whistle at any point on that play; it was off May's stick and right into the net.

Heh, gotta look out for number one.
