Ties are fine, hockey had ties for a hundred years and no one complained! I am not particularly a fan of the shootout, but its continued existence is not something that causes me great anguish either, so I can deal.

Hank and Pavel start finding the back of the net and surprise, the Ws start mounting. Pavel has always been a slow starter, and Hank missed training camp with an injury, so a .500-ish start is really not that difficult to reconcile. As soon as the Wings' best players got back to being their best players, it's business as usual.

Flip caught lightning in a bottle with Hossa and Franzen, and right now we've got none of the three. Until they run out of steam, I don't see any reason to split up Hank's line. In a healthier future when they do hit a cold streak you can bet we'll see Hank and Pavel back together, and Flip on the second line, and then things will change again. There are a lot of good options for the team right now in the top six when they get some guys back. -
What a fun game. That felt kinda like a playoff game, really intense and exciting.
