11/5 GDT: Sharks 1 at Red Wings 2 (SO)

Generally pleased with the Wings limiting the Sharks to just one or two scoring chances (and an excellent PK ). Would've been nice if they'd cashed in on one of their own, but if they keep working good things should happen.

Osgood, covering his five hole? On my hockey team? I don't know what I'm seeing!

Extremely competent penalty killing, from my Red Wings?

Guys gotta realign their scopes and get some of these pucks on net.

No lie, I've frequently been watching playoff baseball during bedtime to help lull me to sleep for the last month.

    Worst saying by an announcer.

Yeah, whenever I catch Leafs game highlights I hear him say that at least 2-3 times for any above average save or goal. It's pretty awful of its own accord, nevermind when it's being screamed every five minutes.

Bert is a real grab bag. He can drive the net and he can make some excellent plays but a lot of the time he seems really weak on puck (like he's got puck repellent on his blade or something) and has bad turnovers like whoa. But he's being paid accordingly, and in general I'm pleased with his level of play.

Finally caught a couple of breaks for a change, but you need breaks and a shutout's a shutout. The Wings are winners in three of their last four games, and have gotten 7 of 8 points in that span. Surprise, after stumbling a bit out of the gate they're back to within striking distance of the division lead.

Pretty obvious call. Put these guys away, Wings.

Jeez, the B's PP is anemic. Everybody just standing still. They made maybe one good play that whole time and it was blocked.

Good PK... against a terrible PP, but I'll take them anyway I can get them.

Well, the Wings are sitting in a pretty familiar spot... a goal for would just about put this away... a goal against will make for a brand new hockey game.

B's winning the battle in the dot 14-7 right now. That's gotta change.

Has there been a face off yet where the Wings' center hasn't been booted? Jesus.

I can't remember the last time the Bruins didn't kick the Wings' asses, and it's certainly not going to help that Rafalski's out. Nothing we can do about any of that now though. Time to take the plunge...

As I was listening football tonight I found out what hockey needs.

I miss Gary Thorne and Bill Clement, for sure. They called most of the biggest games of my adolescence, and were damn good at it. Doc Emrick's shrill, screeching voice is no match for Gary's big, powerful tenor.

No joke, I wasn't even sure if there was a game on yesterday til I woke up.
