Probably they will move Huet, even if they have to package him with picks/prospects to essentially bribe another team with cap space that's willing to give him a shot at starter.
-
Dreger and McKenzie say it's a done deal.
-
Not gonna get too worked up over a potential 3rd round pick. I wasn't crazy about re-signing Hossa at all but that's what Kenny wanted to do and he must've been in the neighborhood to have been still at it.
-
Holland is already trying to keep Sammy on board, Fedotenko's no different.

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
With 3-4 roster spots in need of filling it wouldn't be wise to move even more players to make room for only one. The Wings don't have any kind of cap space for that. They won't be making any significant additions this off-season. -
They're almost interchangeable as grossly overpriced underperforming centers for the Rangers. Thank god for Kenny, eh?

Better overall core of defensemen - Flames or Wings?

And then in the playoffs the Flames got gashed for 4-5 goals a game by the Hawks while the Wings held them to 2 goals per game. -

Phaneuf is overrated. He built up a ton of goodwill when he had a great rookie season, and he's been expending that pretty rapidly ever since. -

It's not really that at all, thanks to Kenny's cap gymnastics. In any event, it's certainly what I anticipated and probably for the best. -
Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

There isn't a terrible lot of value in moving him now, or even before the draft, so it's never been a big deal from where I sit. -
Wings to trade one defenseman

Lebda easily takes the distinction. Terrible pinches that led to critical goals against were his forte; notably, Game 4 against Columbus and Game 6 versus Pittsburgh. Stuart had a good playoffs. I'd say Kronwall was the weaker of the pair for much of them, although he seemed to get better as they went along. -
the top 50 professional hockey players in the world today!

Does any player below No. 7 have any argument for being better than Hank? Jagr if this was 10 years ago, and maybe Chara or Luongo (although I'd say they're a stretch); the also criminally underrated Getzlaf is probably the only guy that comes close. -
All he needs to do is shoot the puck, which is good, because that's about all he's still good at. Getting two million dollars to float around and bang home beauties from Crosby is a pretty sweet gig.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

This doesn't qualify as a "nightmare scenario." The Panthers got a third-round pick and another expiring contract for Boewmeester. That's nice and all and better than nothing, but this isn't some tremendous wasted opportunity if they aren't able to sign him or trade his rights. -
This is a thing.

Um, yes.

Not to pile on the flak you're catching for this one, but I think it's pretty reasonable to say you could take any one skater off the Wings' roster and it wouldn't hurt their playoff chances at all; even Nick, Hank, and Pavel. There are very few teams that can make a claim like that. -
It'd also prevent him from scoring 12 goals against the Wings next season. Then all they need to do is sign Patrick Sharp and Rick Nash and they'll never lose another divisional game again.
-
You can take some encouragement from the fact that Oz was awful during the season but the Wings easily coasted to 50 wins. It really shouldn't be an issue because A.) Ozzie will be much better this year and will likely get more starts vs the 1a 1b routine, so there will still be a greater amount of quality tending this season and B.) the Wings will score 5 goals a night and prop Howard's ass up even if he does fall flat.
-
To be fair to him, he was constantly recovering from injury and probably didn't have much talent to begin with. The fact that he was willing to occasionally throw down says something, but he wasn't very good at that either (post-his one impressive performance against Patrick Sharp). It's akin to you or I playing in the NHL; I'm sure we'd try, but we'd be very, very bad at it.

Well, they picked a guy. Andrej Nestrasil, 6-2/200. Czech, plays in the Q.
