How in the world did that happen?
-
And have to go another week without Wings hockey? Might as well inject some drama into these playoffs and go five or six.
-
Two great shifts back to back. First Dustin Byfuglien and then Ben Eager and David Bolland. Total domination.
-
You know who's extremely unlikable? Brian Campbell.
-
And Luongo's shutout streak ends. Comeback incoming.
-
Yuck, Wellwood short a tooth after that high stick. Don just showed him spittin' it out. Tough SOBs, them hockey guys.

The series we've all been waiting for

That goal was a bit fluky in how it went in, but the fact that it got through him on a seemingly harmless shot was bad. The rebound on the Sammy shot that made for Flipper's goal in that game was much worse. -
Wow, someone out there has to shoot. They had the tic tac toe set up again two or three times and made that extra pass that killed the play.
-
Wellwood-Sundin-Demitra, tic tac toe. 1-0 Nuckleheads.
-
There's Luongo.

Hello Canada, and hockey fans in the United States and Newfoundland! Go Hawks. (barf)

ESPN's Buccigross Det Ana Series Prediction

The old comment isn't particularly valid, but he did pick the Wings to win. -
I can't envision a universe where this info could possibly matter less.

All three are fantastic players and the Wings would benefit immensely by icing any of them, but I'll have to echo the above and say Ovechkin. The Wings have more than enough playmakers, and don't have bad triggermen either (Franzen, Hossa), but AO takes that to another level.
-
Yeah, they can do virtually anything they want with the roster at any time, but Mike seems content with the status quo for now. The 4th line wasn't the obvious, glaring weakness it was during the season, which I'm sure we can largely credit to the addition of Darren Helm.
-
It means we'll keep on seeing the same line up that we're seeing. Two forwards would need to be out before an active roster spot opens up.

Holland offered Shanny a contract after the '06 season.

The '03 and '07 series aren't very analogous at all. For one, if Lucky Luc doesn't hit the crossbar I'm convinced that series would have been very different , but more importantly '03 was all clutch-and-grab, and a much better Wings team playing more or less as you described -- relying too much on overwhelming skill to win. Not to pile anything onto the much-maligned Cujo, but he wasn't very good either (which wasn't too much of a problem the year before when Hasek had a terrible quarterfinals, but two years in a row is asking for it). That '07 team had guts and heart to spare. They went to the net hard, got good goaltending, but didn't get the breaks. That's not to take anything away from Anaheim -- you need breaks. Detroit got breaks when they won their Stanley Cups, and so did Anaheim. I was kind of taken aback at how much more depth the '09 team has compared to just two years ago. That amounts to f***all if they don't score and win, but on paper this team is way better on all fronts. Nitpick: It's Homer-Datsyuk-Hossa and Hudler-Zetterberg-Franzen on the PP units.

I'm foreeeever yoooours... Faithfully...

Because they are getting their way a little too much recently. Between the Patriots, Celtics, and Sox, they've got their arms full of enough championships as it is. The B's are the only team that hasn't won it all in recent times. We aim to perpetuate this condition. Boston, on the other hand, f***in' rocks.

I didn't want to nitpick, but this needs to be addressed. Fedotenko has one playoff goal in 15 games since Game 7 in the Finals. He had one playoff goal in the 22 previous playoff games as well. Flash in the pan is an understatement. Even if we take the regular season at face value, this guy is basically Mikael Samuelsson. -
That's not really how it's awarded in practice, but I was just running my mouth anyways.
