4/15/09 GDT: Around the NHL Round 1 Game 1
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
I was out watching the early games, but let me say this: Oh-for-three tonight goes HoH. C'mon Blues (*gag*)!! -
Blue Jackets doing their homework for Wings -- literally
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to titanium2's topic in General
Next step for Detroit: Infiltrating the Jacket's homes and living their lives as they would. I think Hudler could reasonably pass off as Commodore. -
Dan Cleary Game 1 Status? (mod edit: Cleary to play)
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Claude Lemieux is the pro sleeper pick. -
I don't know where that's coming from, he almost always speaks like he needs to shout over crowd noise, even when he's in a studio. More accurately, like he really urgently needs to tell you about this dumb hockey cliche or silly invented phrase of his right this second while a volcano erupts in the background. One thing he is though, is totally in love with the Wings. Funny, as I recall the monkey has the best record of any of the TSN team...?

Slick.

I caught it, the tune was Detroit '67 from Sam Roberts, it was pretty cool.

Saturday April 18th, Let's party!
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to HenrikRules40's topic in Group Events
I don't know if my local crew has any plans to get together for the playoffs (loose bunch when it comes to organizing s***) but I'd be down if not. -
NFM covered it, but teams can petition to put players' names on the Cup. There is only a certain number of names allowed, but presumably usually enough space to put non-qualifiers on there.

If Cleary and Draper are both out I'm pretty sure the Wings only real course of action is to put Helm and Leino into the line up. If Cleary is OK then they don't have to do anything because Helm is already up anyways. Only once Draper gets back do they have to make some decisions on who stays and goes, and they'll have at least two games to see how Kopecky/Maltby/whoever does in Draper's stead.

Sammy hat trick incoming.

Round 1: Comparitive Stats for Detroit and Columbus
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
Primarily has to do with the Wings having the puck all the time, I'd wager. If the Wings are putting 40 shots on the other goalie and the other team can only manage 20 or whatever, obviously the Wings are controlling the play and won't even have an opportunity to block shots. Some guys don't take to blocking shots, of course, and maybe this season they haven't committed to it as well just because they're no use in getting hurt in any regular season game. -
PS 2009 Round 1 Photoshop War: Columbus Blue Jackets
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Matt's topic in Hall of Fame
Your contributions would be much appreciated, so spread the word. Wouldn't be much of a war if the Columbus gang didn't get in on the act, now would it?- 687 replies

Round 1: (2) Red Wings vs. (7) Blue Jackets
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to FunkedUp's topic in General
It's in Canada only. All the Wings games are gonna be on FSN and Versus. If you live in Michigan and get CBC then you're going to see most of the playoff games for all the teams. -
First round schedule officially released
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
The whole playoff schedule is here. Between CBC, Versus, and FSN, Detroiters will get most of the games. -
The "I Support Dan Cleary and Brad Stuart" Thread
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to xBrave_Heartx's topic in General
They might be moved anyways for the money they're making, but that's for the offseason. On their own merits, I think the whole team gets a pass and we see what happens in the playoffs. The Kronwall-Stuart pairing sucked all year, but if they turn it around now, all is forgiven; they have previously played at an elite level, after all. -
Round 1: (2) Red Wings vs. (7) Blue Jackets

I'll devote a thread to the exploits of Chris Pronger in Caleefornya just so no one forgets what a goddamned ******* that scumbag is. -
Round 1: (2) Red Wings vs. (7) Blue Jackets
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to FunkedUp's topic in General
Three wins (all in regulation), two losses, one overtime loss. -
This is where the Wings will find out who they are hosting Wednesday/Thursday. If the Blues win, the Wings will play the Blue Jackets; if the Avs win, the Wings will face the Ducks.

Rest of the playoffs looks like this: East, (1)Bruins vs (8)Habs (2)Caps vs (7)Rangers (3)Devils vs (6)Hurricanes (4)Penguins vs (5)Flyers West, (1)Sharks vs (8)Ducks (2)Wings vs (7)Jackets (3)Canucks vs (6)Blues (4)Hawks vs (5)Flames I like these match ups, should make for some great first round action across the board. -

It is right and proper that the Jackets should have to square off against the Big Brother of the Central in their inaugural playoff appearance. -

They heard the lot of you complaining, pretty good end to end sequence right there.
