This game is a lot chippier than the one yesterday, but the Wings gameplan hasn't changed. It's been the same story all season, I'm sure you must've noticed. The difference between this season and last is obvious: last season they had something to prove after losing in the WCF. This year they don't have s*** to prove and it shows. I don't know that anything could really motivate them other than the occasional pretender -- the Hawks (in the midseason games, not these bulls*** glorified exhibition matches) and the Sharks -- so they're just chugging along like this. And fortunately it's basically over. -

Yeah, I'm with you. This is their 82 game penance for winning the Stanley Cup. Don't worry, it's almost over. And thank god for that. -

I don't know why all you guys are losing your s*** over this game. In no universe could this game possibly matter less. They are stuck in neutral on purpose; they don't want to go out and get hurt. -

At this point, just end the season, in any way you can as fast as you can. I'm right on the limit, I can't take much more of this regular season nonsense. -

I wouldn't call anything likely. It's just one game; any team can win or lose one game.
-
Well, when the Preds first made the playoffs they had to take on the big brother of the Central, so it seems right and proper that the BJs should have to face that same challenge. Go get 'em, Blues.
-
If the Blues win tomorrow, it's them. If they lose, in any fashion, it's the Ducks.
-
Shootout for Ducks/Yotes.
-
Here is lecatpuke's chart from the Anaheim thread that spells out all of the possibilities remaining for the Red Wings' playoff opponent.
-
Tie game for Ducks/Yotes. Very nice chart, by the way, appreciate the resource.
-
All of the match ups in the East are set. Not sure if Philly can get home ice with a win tomorrow, but they win play the Pens regardless. In the West Hawks-Flames; Nucks-Jackets are go if the Ducks don't rally tonight (losing 4-2 after two). EDIT: Hey hey! The Boyd with a hat trick for the Leafs!
-
The Jackets look to be headed for a loss, which offers a dual opportunity for the Ducks to be moved out of 7th: The Ducks win tonight (currently losing 2-1 to the Coyotes) they jump the BJs, if the Ducks lose and the Blues win tomorrow, the Blues would jump the Ducks.
-
Not really into preferring one team or the other, but as far as personnel is concerned, the BJs and Ducks have their own Dbag Wings killer on them (Nash, Getzlaf) and the Blues do not.

Worthy of note: With a -2 this afternoon Datsyuk falls back into a tie for 2nd in the +/- race, one behind Boston's David Krejci. EDIT: Although there's still time in the Sabres-Bruins massacre, but Krejci is even on the day for now.
