Eh, typical "player turning his back to the hitter" boarding. Gotta make the call anyways.

Wings send scouts to ATL vs. COL game?

We'd pair 13 with 13 and watch the magic.

Unrelated: Your avatar is great. What a huge goal in that series. I remember going absolutely ballistic to get that with what, 2:30 or so to go?

    Gut Feeling

Eh, they've dealt other slugs like Sean Avery when the opportunity's presented itself, and in eras past dealt a pretty good top 4 Dman in Anders Eriksson for an much better top 4 Dman in Chris Chelios. I don't think it's usually a winning team's "style" to deal roster players at all, being that they're winning and are more likely to deal futures for rental players instead. Kenny's a bit reluctant I think, for sure, lending to his loyal nature, but it sure isn't beneath him.

    Chelios lays into Lemiuex

Lemieux has been to Detroit plenty of times since the Draper incident and the Brawl... Nothing's gonna happen. /killjoy

It's nice to have a decently big game to get up for... I am getting pretty bored with this whole endless (and for the Wings, more or less meaningless) regular season. I hope we ******* demolish them.

    Norris Nick...Runner Up Ralf?

You don't know that! Voting for all the regular season awards is done before the playoffs start.

Is it time to make some major moves for this year's playoff run?

I'll affix a big "maybe" to all that. You can bet Kenny is looking to tweak the roster every year if he can (and in years past pull the blockbuster move), but the price has gotta be right. The team has been so good every year I don't feel like they have to make any move at all to be competitive. Yeah, I know. I am sensitive about the Cross thing; it annoys me how people fail to understand the move for depth.

    Stuart to return Wednesday

They were good last spring but they've been by far the worst pairing this year. Kronwall has been on the ice for the most goals against this season for the Wings and before Stuart was hurt he was on top, too. Nik has been on the ice for one more goal than Lidstrom, even though Lidstrom plays against the opponent's top line and spends more time on the penalty kill and in critical late game situations.

Is it time to make some major moves for this year's playoff run?

Two things: First, what makes you think that? The Wings were by far the best team during the season in '06. Of course we all know what that amounts to and amounted to, but at trade deadline '06 what move would management have wanted to make? And unless it was for a goalie it wouldn't have mattered a whole helluva lot anyways. And two, there was nothing wrong with the Cross pick up. Depth for the Depth God.

    Rangers fire Renney

A lot of those guys were rentals and didn't get any contract from the Leafs. Roberts and Nieuwendyk had really good year(s) in Toronto as well.

Looking ahead to the 1st round

I meant on my part. The new rules had more to do with it more than anything. He hasn't been lined up consistently with Joe until this season, as he is normally a center, not a winger. I've seen more San Jose games than any other non-Detroit ones (know thy enemy ) and I've been impressed enough with Marleau to believe he'll be a handful for anyone that he squares off against.

    Fedorov this season

I heard this Fedorov guy was a Red Wing once. Is that true?

    Leino or Helm

If all of our forwards are healthy I assume Helm will start in the playoffs ahead of Kopecky, and Maltby will be on a short leash with Leino ready to jump in if Malts doesn't play up to par.

    My Central pick? Duncan Keith.

    Washington Beating up on Pittsburgh

I have (regrettably) been unable to see many Caps games in recent years, but christ, Green spends more time down by the circles than at his point. The forwards constantly having to rotate and cover must think him a royal pain in the ass.

    Washington Beating up on Pittsburgh

Yeah. I ain't sayin' anything new but I gotta say it: Ovechkin is a friggin' beast. He's had two ridiculous dekes and gotten in alone in front of the net and just not been able to bury it, or we'd have never seen the end of the highlights.

Hate to say it...sick Marty Turco save

Looks like plenty of other diving desperation saves, he just threw his leg out instead of his glove. We give goalies plenty of credit for those, but not this? It was a good save, Marty did every last thing he could to get in the way and it worked.

2/21 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Wild 5

Well, that happened. Didn't think the Wings were really that bad all things considered, but they didn't nail their chances and got burned on a couple awesome individual efforts by Bouchard and Koivu.
