The instigator wasn't introduced post-lockout... It's been around for a couple decades. There were a handful of rule changes with regards to fighting in 2006, namely instigating in the last five minutes of a game, but nothing major.

It was a close a series as I've seen, and the Ducks were ******* lucky to get that Game 5 tally, but that's hockey. Either team could have won it, and they did.

It would matter in terms of any potential deadline moves, but no, it's not using any cap space. All of it is being done under Stuart's IR cap relief. And if there wasn't enough room the team could move Homer onto IR as well. -

Disagree. Hossa is not going to fight any more often than he has before in his career. He said it himself, even Gretzky threw down now and again, it just happens.

With regards to Maltby/Leino: It's fine. Mike's stated intentions are to keep everyone fresh down the stretch, a worthwhile endeavor. -
Wow, that was right brutal coverage and pursuit by the Rangers. I can't even begin to imagine how that's possible. By that same token, you can't argue with three 2 man disadvantage goals.

Suter confirms the obvious. "I wasn't looking to fight him,'' Suter said. "He just kind of ran into me. I didn't even know we were fighting and the gloves were off. It was just a heat of the battle thing.'' Which of course corroborates with Hossa's take... "There was a couple slashes, a couple pushing and shovings (on an earlier shift). All of a sudden we found each other and just dropped the gloves. It just happened. We had a little fight."

The self-pass and spinorama was the best part. The goal was pretty damn good, but the moves were otherworldly.

1993 was the year I was referring to, but no matter. My point was this: the guy I quoted inferred that we should get an enforcer because Hossa fought a guy. But, Hossa has fought guys with an enforcer on his team. Sometimes a finesse guy fights, it just happens.

He and Suter skated into each other, it was just time to go. Occasionally finesse guys fight, bit whoop. Stevie fought a couple times with Probert on the team; does that mean Bob wasn't doing his job? Of course not.

Hossa wasn't fighting because there wasn't an enforcer to do it for him, he was just pissed. It's not like it's something he makes a habit of. He has been in a grand total of four fights now, a pair with Eric Boulton on his team.
