I DVR'd it, and have since watched it, it was alright. Wasn't Florida-Alabama but it was a pretty good game. Tebow was decent and Harvin was nuts; and that pick that turned out to be the decisive point in the game was fantastic. I am also deeply amused that the much heralded Big 12 South went 1-3 this bowl season. The ego of the Big 12 was almost enough to get me to root for OSU over UT. Almost.

Not much to say... Wings have been on a roll of late, they were having a field day out there and just toying with those poor SOBs all night long. Those two games against Chicago seem to be the best thing to happen to Detroit this season. Getting fired up for a big game -- and then having to do it again two nights later -- has provided the energy the Wings have been looking for to recommit to defense while still piling up loads of goals on offense. Ozzie and Conklin have been awesome to boot. Great stuff.

1/6 GDT: Red Wings 3, Blue Jackets 0

Very fun game to watch. Tons of great saves and scoring chances, great goals, and Pavel continues to amaze and impress. -
Fancy how having a Cup ring transforms one from a whiner to a leader.

No Red Wings on All Star starting line up
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
Only the starting line up is determined by votes, ie 6 players for each conference. The league picks the rest of the players and yes, they make an effort to make sure every team is represented if they can. A couple years ago Yannic Perrault made it in for the Coyotes, and while he was a decent center and expert face off man, he and the whole of the Yotes had no business being anywhere near the All-Star Game. As to the other question, players can choose to stay home if they want, so yes. -

Well, it certainly was a good game. McCoy-Cosby pulled it out in the clutch.

Missed this when it was originally put up here, but a damn fine and convincing argument you make, egroen.
-
His play was purely average at the quarter pole of the season but more recently he's taken off and is playing very well, a metamorphosis we can also tag the majority of the team with.

Those extra fights will clearly be what's missing, resulting in the Wings tragically falling short of the repeat. Oh, if only we had five more fighting majors!

Ed Reed is pretty much the Datsyuk of the NFL.

Ozzie controversy incoming. ( ) Muchas gracias.

Well, nevermind that.

1/3 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Wild 2 (SO)
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
No and no. There is no GWG and the shootout goals don't count as anything. -
I feel embarrassed just watching that. My goodness.

1/3 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Wild 2 (SO)
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Ozzie played well, and the team as a whole seemed to outplay the Wild throughout, but it seemed like too often they went for the extra pass instead of just letting it go. In any event, a Ws a W, and Datsyuk's signature deke makes a comeback. -

Do my eyes deceive, or did the fourth line actually just have a great shift??? -

Too much passing, someone's gotta pull the trigger. Doesn't have to be a picture perfect chance, just let it go. -
Colts-Giants. Manning Bowl incoming.

Kostopolous clearly hit Van Ryn in the numbers, and Van Ryn had his back to him the whole way... From the one angle I see here I can't make much of it, it's a pretty poor angle.

GDT 2009 Winter Classic: Red Wings 6, Blackhawks 4
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in Hall of Fame
They apparently realized that this was happening and ditched the cards before they had the opportunity to show the Blackhawks side. As for the chant, it doesn't make much sense to me from the standpoint that you've got no control over the outcome of the game, and you end up look quite foolish if you end up being proven wrong. I'll stick to concentrating on my own team and not concern myself with the also-rans.- 1,043 replies

They weren't half bad, but give me a winged wheel any day. Pass on the third jersey.

Today's lines were pretty intriguing: Homer-Datsyuk-Franzen Hudler-Zetterberg-Hossa Cleary-Flipper-Sammy
