Pretty standard issue forehand-to-backhand deke, probably as reliable a shot as you'll get. I tried calling what all the guys were going to do - shoot, deke and if so what way - before they went and I think I went ofer. I called Rex shooting. Wrang. I'll take the tie, and the extra point. Ducks can probably call themselves lucky to get out of there with one. If only Nick had buried it. Curse his lack of breakaway skills! I appreciated some of the hitting that Kronwall and others were laying out, and I was happy to see Drake stand up to that ***** Perry and let him know as much by mimicking the helmet strap after the fight to rub it in. All in all... hooray hockey's back!

My comp is trashed. And not for any particularly good reason. I turned it on yesterday morning and its like trying to compute (which I guess is the verb for "running a computer") in molasses. Working on virus scans/spyware scans/registry cleanups/disk cleanup/defragging/etc... But I fear it may be an internal issue. In which case I am the saddest of all possible pandas.

A (very belated) high five to the Lions and Kitna, who is officially on the A team. I will remember that OT "pass play" til the day I die. Faith is a weird thing... and I don't yet have it after victories over puny Oakland and Minnesota. Philly will be a good game to gauge how different these guys are from Lions teams past, if at all.

Ah - um - er... Guess I've got about a day to think about it.

Wahoo! Wings back on the tube. It'll be fun to finally talk friggin' hockey again. This summer has been a killer but at least I can watch the game. Didn't realize all our mans are gettin' hurt... One of those things where they ought to be back soon but they end up on ice for a couple months? Raflaski, Fischer, Hatcher, Chelios... don't matter who you sign - are you a defensemen and play for the Detroit Red Wings? Jokes on you buddy, hope you like IR.
