No one standing up to Pronger...

That's a good one. Your work? -
Goodness gracious, what a terrible look. *cringe*

No one standing up to Pronger...
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to redandwhiteforever's topic in General
Pronger's like fifteen feet tall, we don't really have anyone to throw down with him anyways. Admittedly, I'd love to see Train unleash the Pain but he's more a hitter and less of a scrapper (unless you happen to be named Sharp, anyways...). -
WCF Post-GAME 3 (5/15): Red Wings 5, Ducks 0

You called it after the Sharks series, and it rings true now - I like Mike. Glad to see Bert work his way into the rotation. When's Nick gonna get his due? Great game. I thought Dom was great early in the first before the Wings took over and just crushed the Ducks, and stupendous late to preserve the shutout. Think he was a little lonely in that middle stanza? Probably just drawing up plans to foil McDonald in his head. ******* Tomas Holmstrom. More and more he's becoming my favorite Wing. How clutch, big game, determined, menacing, bad ass can a guy be? We would be nothing if not for Homer. God bless you, Demolition Man. -
Bingo. This was classic Homer taken to the extreme. Get knocked down, stand back up and score a goal. Get rocked by a cheapshot, come back and feather a perfect pass for a meaningless (but symbolic!) tally.
-
I watched the replay a million times, I don't know for certain that Niedermayer did or would have done any damage, but rest assured Pronger is a cheap f*** and he'll get what he deserves from the league - if he doesn't scrape by because of his name. *coughIGINLAcough*

WCF Game 3 (5/15): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to aflac9262's topic in General
May be watching at a buddy's house or stealing it on the Internet, but either way my heart is with the Wings on their journey to far away and unforgiving Caleefornya. Let's do this thang! -
Anybody else's house get pelted by hail stones just now? During a flash flood? What the eff, mate?

Just puttin' this out there, if it hasn't already: Rule 78a: If an attacking player initiates contact with a goalkeeper, incidental or otherwise, while the goalkeeper is in his goal crease, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed.

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

What a bulls*** tying goal. Absolute bulls***. No whistle, no call for goalie interference. How infuriating. And now I'm putting it past me. They split, so we need to do the same. -
Gotta be KC, Reem.

It has been done. We will be sporting, in no particular order: mostaccioli, rotini, shells, and spaghetti. Meat or tomato sauce available. Garlic bread optional. ENJOY YOUR STAY AND YOUR MEAL, FOLKS.

To think back then... It seems like so long ago. Watching the game with my dad (as was our tradition), hugging and high fiving and celebrating after each goal, astonished as the lead grew and grew and grew... Those were the good ol' days...

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

Flip! The Train is no more! Where or where has my little Train gone? I miss his soft caress vicious checking and gentle voice inhuman violence on a warm summer's day after a long night's drinking. Admittedly, Mike presents a fearful image, also - if not less so by several orders of magnitude. All I know is this: there will be a great gathering for this evening's contest, and it is scientific fact that the reveling of victory or the despair of defeat will increase exponentially as more people are present in the vicinity. Given that: WIN IT WINGS! -
When people talk about making their own bounces, they don't mean deliberately putting pucks off of defenders into the net; obviously, that's impossible. What they mean is creating power plays (both goals were PPGs) and getting traffic in front. If you can do one of those things, or both, there's a good chance you'll get a bounce to go your way. Anaheim had power plays and traffic, too, but yesterday the defense was up to the task of blocking shots and closing off lanes, and Hasek was Hasek. But I don't doubt that over the course of this series that both teams will continue to make their own bounces and score a few goals on 'lucky' plays...
-
This guy alone has enough determination to lead his team to a Stanley Cup... the way he was jumping up and down and freaking out after Homer's goal, you could tell he's starting to sense that big silver mug coming his way. And I can't think of a guy who deserves it more than old Dano.
-
I'm sure there would have been, and I agree with Giguere, too. No matter where you go, unless it's a 5-0 whitewash or something, when the home team loses it's because they didn't get the breaks, they beat themselves, blah blah blah. After every loss in these playoffs some goofball starts up a thread like, "Wings have no heart, Flames/Sharks in 6." It's enough to drive a guy mad. But the way the media has pumped up the Ducks for this series, anything other than a resounding win Sunday will result in the Ducks as the mighty conquerors and Detroit as the lucky underdog. That ESPN headline speaks for itself.

God, Flip, that avatar is so brilliant. I could watch it play itself over and over again, hour after hour, until the end of days. It's art in motion, perfection incarnate, mastery of the highest order.
-
You either have it or you don't. Fedorov, he wanted to drill that puck through the goalie, through the net, through the glass and out of the arena. He wanted to beat everybody by himself, and he was damn good at it. Datsyuk will make that pass, and unfortunately tonight he gave up a great scoring chance because of it. Love him anyways, just sayin'.

You know what's going to be downright brutal... If the Wings drop Game 2 (god forbid) we're going to be up to our ears in "WINGS ARE LUCKY THIS SERIES IS TIED" bulls***. Were they two fluky goals? Absolutely. Welcome to the sport of hockey. You fight hard, get power plays, and bounce pucks off of people. As if the Ducks have never scored a fluky goal... Say, a series winner while the goalie was dicking around trying to call a penalty...
-
I think our top line dominated play at every opportunity, but we didn't get a lot of contributions from the other guys. Combine that with all the PKing and it you've got the Ducks controlling a lot of the game. I just hope that the penalty situations work themselves out. We know the ZDH line is gonna be fantastic, so if we start getting some other guys shooting and making plays we'll be in business.

By the looks of it, "I'm trying to circumvent the swear filter."
-
Easy to generalize, but taken case by case there was no lazier and more ill-timed play than Lang's. Yeah, like "he did X and that pissed me off," to which your reply is "everyone makes mistakes." no,u ------ Anydangway, that particular thing was annoying, but overall I'm satisfied with the win. I thought the officiating was terrible and it put the Wings behind the eightball a lot, but the Norris-caliber Dmen of Anaheim got turned inside-out by Pavel more than once, if he can keep it up he'll add a few more highlight reel plays to his growing list of playoff heroics.

My favorite part of a Wings win... cherry picking the lame comments from an opposing message board for laughs... Of course they're upset their team lost. You think you'd read any different here? Anyways, I guess I was never much for schadenfreude, is all.
