His retaliation far exceeded the damage done, or intended to be done, by the low hit. This would be like sucker punching an offender every time he boards someone or delivers a cross-check. One of these thing was a two minute minor, the other should have been a game.

I am surprisingly calm, for a playoff game. Must center your chi, know your destiny. We'll knock those cheap f***s out of the playoffs, and all will be right in the universe.

The last thing I want to do is step on your toes, old pal. The hospital bill was tremendous last time.

Yes, he was certainly obligated to deliver the punch. He had to, no if ands or buts about it. Don't kid yourself. Lebda botched the hip check, that's two. Langkow pounded a defenseless and unawares man in the face, that's a game, at least.

If you're done with the topic, you probably shouldn't bother with a response, as I have no incentive to stop posting myself. I'm sure Dom knew the penalty was on him. He did just go through the whole pointing shenanigans. He still turned to the play instants before the whistle went. He had no intention of following Iginla around. Um, that's exactly right. If you start to do something, but then stop, you didn't do it. Kinda like Burninator's analogy of cocking your fist but not throwing a punch. Except this is with a stick so it's a bit more serious. But in the end he never took the swing, and turned back to the play before it was whistled dead.

He turned away because the play was still on. He looked at the ref because he knew he was in s***. Perhaps? Unless you have some proof, I'd rather not make an appeal to ignorance. Why not? He did motion to make a swing, and ended up pointing at Iginla. He was clearly upset and made a dumb move.

I haven't quoted Hasek. But his intention's were rather obvious; an aborted swing isn't a swing. I'm merely attempted to dispel your false belief that Hasek swung at Iginla. Burninator made an excellent analogy to help explain this. Hasek immediately turned away from Iginla and back to the play after his non-swing, instants before the play was blown dead. Clearly, that referee was in the wrong if he felt Iginla was in danger. I don't disagree with the unsportsmanlike call, though.

He motioned like he wanted to, but never did. His "swing," which wouldn't have broken an egg, was Hasek thinking better of taking action.

At what point in that video has Iginla been swung at?

Yeah, that was kind of a cool to see, but it wasn't a fight. Draw as far as I'm concerned (with bonus takedown for Bert).

His "swing" at Iginla was a non-swing. He was upset, but never came close to swinging his stick, and instead pointed at Iginla. If you would like, please compare McLennan's swing to Hasek's non-swing.

Seriously, where the hell does this come from? I've read nothing but this from the Flames and their fans, but can't find a single instance of Kipper on his back, net dislodged, while the Flames dogpile the offender, after a viscous run. There was a dogpile after Cleary's hit in Game 1, but as I've said that constitutes a nega-hit, which causes you to actually lose PIMs. It's like they took that one hit and now have exaggerated it into this big issue, making this into a series of phantom goalie runners. Oh noez, Homer is standing in front of the net like he's done for a decade, like players on every team do. Oh noez, he occasionally brushed against Kipper when Miikka comes five feet out of his crease to make a save, call Colin Campbell. I'm totally baffled as to what it is all these Flames are seeing and crying about.

One thing that needs to be remembered here: THE CURSE IS DEAD. Both NJ and Anaheim advanced. What the hell, man?

    Daniel Cleary Penalty Shot Video

I'm kind having a tough time hearing it (and don't remember it offhand), but it's probably "Carmina Burana." They play it from time to time during tense moments, usually in the last few minutes of a game.

Flames getting slammed by own Media

Beautiful screencaps, Tazzer. This hit is a bit low, but it's the two minute variety, not an attempt to end someone's career, as some idiots have posited.

Typical spineless NHL. Iginla should have at least been fined as a sort of symbolic punishment for his usual late game temper tantrum. But what Langkow did was flat out wrong; for him to not get a game just reinforces what we all know and hate about Colin Campbell.

Just got off the phone with Rex and Flipper, Bob has been up all night teaching those two his secret Czech Karate Kwan Do-Jitsu so they can handle Iginla when he picks a fight with them. We're all set to kick some ass.
