3/24 GDT: St. Louis Blues @ Red Wings, 2:00 PM ET
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to puckloo39's topic in General
There's something in the air. Could it be... love? -
March 22nd against the Blue Jackets.
-
Lou is definitely right, Lilja got in the first shot but was on the ropes from there on out. Point was it fired up the crowd and the team. First was pretty even, Anaheim even had a slight edge, but it was all Wings after that. Just shows ya what a little rough-housing will do.
-
Well, the team only got there once, but a lot of the vets on their squad have been there plenty of times. Guys like Rolston, Demitra, White, Parrish, Carney, and Skoula have all gone multiple times. Gaborik has just one visit and the team went on a great run, where Marian was the second leading scorer on the whole playoff year despite not making the Finals. They're in pretty good shape if Backstrom doesn't pull a chokejob.
-
While we swept the Wild this year, they were without Gaborik in all of them... and if they don't have Gaborik, they basically don't have Demitra either. So they're a whole different team with that guy in. Plus we beat up on Fernandez most of the year, and now Backstrom is the main man. Add up how hot they've been lately...

I think coming out of the Nashville series they just slowed down, which they talked about during the game (specifically mentioned Scotty warning Mike that this would happen). Those other games, we didn't come to play, we were sluggish, etc. so we weren't going to net much. Tonight was just a tight, defensive battle. I'm OK with one goal so long as they come to play for 60 minutes.
-
No kidding, this was one of his best games of the season. The Wings defense was getting back into form, but there were still several moments where Dom had to make big time stops to keep us in it, early and late. Just what we need.

What do we think about Bertuzzi replacing Holmstrom on the ZDH line?

Homer and Hank work great together... Pavel and Hank work great together... Transitive property means Datsyuk and Homer work great together, so long as Hank is around. Without Zeteroo, there's not been much going on for the Demoliton Man. -
Secretly, Lou is giddy that TOUGHNESS and GRIT have returned to Hockeytown, brought to us by the PAIN TRAIN, Andreas Lilja. ... ... ...
-
Mike's 3 Stars- #1 Hasek #2 Datsyuk #3 Lidstrom Also... #1A TEAM DEFENSE. This was a great game for the Wings. Everything about it was positive. Way to go, guys!
-
Oooooh maaaan.... NERVOUS FINISH!!!
-
It was very well played.
-
Pierre McGuire has an enormous hard-on for the Wings.
-
Great save Dom! Lilly got turned inside-out there, but he's been good tonight. Selanne's a beast, I'll cut him some slack.
-
Wings starting to take control in the second...
-
Matt the comedian...
-
This sopcast is on a delayed feed. You all spoiled the goal for me!
-
Zetterberg sounds like he's doing good...
-
Yeah, but Matt only likes to shove. He's got a temper, but he'd never rough up someone like Sammy and Lilja were doing. Still, I give him credit for stirring things up.
-
Wow, I'm actually proud of Lilly. Got the first shot in, got rouged up after that, but nothing but love for Andreas right now. Sammy was givin' one of the other Ducks the business at the bench too. Niiice!
-
Hasek on fire!
-
Surprised?
-
Is that Eddy Olczyk giving it to Dom?
-
HELL YES WHOA!!!!

10 Years Later: 03/26/97: Wings 6, Avs 5 (OT)
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to timothy1997's topic in General
Oh, to be a lad again... To jump and scream and spill juice on the carpet (sorry mom!) and watch the game with my dad again... It's been a looong time. I was a little young, any memories I did have were probably supplanted by the DVD, but it's a timeless classic besides. Thanks, Wings!
