You could, and you'd be right, but as I reiterate non-stop: correlation does not mean causation. The Wings' problems have been numerous since the dream team's victory. Sakic and Neil Smith did it before Sergei.

Grats to timothy! I found the answer on NHLPA.com also, but not before totally dropping the ball. Naturally I went to the rosters first, but I went to the wrong year. So I'm on the 92-93 roster (duuuuuuurrr) and it basically would've had to been Dallas Drake or Jim Cummins; both submited, BZZZZZT.

Fedorov was our best and most clutch playoff scorer for pretty much his entire Detroit career. It is far and away no stretch to say we would not have ended the Cup drought without him in the line up. I mean, you're talking about subtracting one of the best players in the world, at the time. It would be no different than taking Steve out of the equation. Everyone did their part to win those championships, and Sergei did a HUGE part.

Coffey. Paul Coffey. I talked about it in the GDT... Eighty bucks or whatever is way to expensive for my tastes for something to throw on over your shirt, but long ago my dad was feeling a bit spend-thrifty, and now this cherished red Coffey family heirloom will live on through the generations.

Thoughts on Bertuzzi after first game as a Wing?
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
His drive to the net was awesome. Like Mick said, we haven't seen anything like it all year from a Red Wing. It'll definitely be exciting to see him get back up to full speed. -
He shot at the All-Star Game, he had a penalty shot last season. Both were pretty lame low blocker shots, easily stopped, if I remember correctly.
-
Maybe when he retires. Chelios still gets booed in Chicago, remember?
-
He's streaky, but at least he works. He always goes to the net and plays his game. I guess you could say Lang does too, where "his game" = floating around and showing zero hustle.
-
I don't even know how you can dislike the guy, unless you're some knob from the Internet. At first I thought it was horses***, but there's a definite difference of Dom vs. Other in the Wings net. Someone needs to figure it out!

The new face of Jason Williams:
-
Bottom line: Wings phoned it in and got what they deserved. Except for Oz, who we all owe a hug and an ice cream cone. Bottom line #2: DICK MOVE, MIKE. DICK MOVE.
-
Bert made a great move, had Norenna dead to rights, just tossed it off the bar. I had no problem with that pick. There's no excuse for not having Rex shoot, though.
-
It was Mike's call. That was a dumb choice. Jiri should've been in the starting three, and certainly not behind ******* Samuelsson.
-
I ******* knew Feds was gonna nail it. DICK MOVE by Babcock to sub Samuelsson for Hudler. Not like the Wings really deserved two anyhow.
-
That overtime was everything the game wasn't. Noooooow for this and that.
-
Just Googled "high stick follow through" and found this. There's more if you search it.
-
I suppose they deserved that one. You're both wrong. There's no penalty for high-sticking if it's on a follow-through.
-
Follow through on a clear, no penalty.
-
Hahahaha, W-O-R-D.
-
Hahaha, what the f***?
-
It is bad that I thought Matt nailing the post two times in a row, on a shot from the very same spot, was about the funniest thing I ever saw?
-
They really aren't.

Guys, we have just witnessed 40 minutes of NHL hockey where not a single event occured.

Attaboy Todd!

Just picked up a third assist on the evening.
